Bummer on the pricey AC bill. Van looks great with the bedrug and seats!
Consider putting some butyl and felt on your doghouse. It made a HUGE difference on interior noise for mine.

Ha! Thanks Jason! Its rare when she starts helping but Im grateful she takes interest in the slow build and vision. I didnt realize the undertaking I had gotten myself into until I was pretty deep but the smiles on their faces and memories created make it all worth while!

Always nice to see a family of "happy campers". Glad everyone is enjoying time outdoors with your van.

Thanks man! 277k on the clock so I know some components will fail. I actually used some peal n seal on the doghouse and added some Ensolite on top. Definitely helped with the heat and noise.

Had to take the van Ford in South Carolina for service while on the trip. My clutch started slipping about 50 miles outside of Myrtle beach and was starting to smoke and make noises. Turned off the A/C till we got into town. Ford diagnosed a bad compressor and some other parts and $1100 later we were on our way to Charlotte.

I Feel your pain... I'm afraid to add up what it cost to get working A/C. Best wishes to Rob who gave me a ton of parts to help with the project... without them it'd have been even worse (he's likely not on the forum, but can use all the good Karma he can get). New Compressor, New Fan Clutch, New Water pump, New idler/tensioner bearings, New hose ends x2, New rad hoses, aluminum lines, air dryer, condenser, 4 lbs refrigerant, etc, etc.

Although some of it would have needed to be done one way or the other... it cost as much as all of the other maintenance I have done on the rig in the last two years since I bought it. It is so worth it though... and done right once, it should be good for another 18 years... I can dream.

I can't believe I never read this build thread before...Well done man! Now I'm DEFINITELY going to have to get you down here to kentucky to go wheeling! You'll like that front truetrac, mine worked flawlessly in the off-road park the other day, even when I was hanging one of the front wheels in the air. We are working on opening some newer, wider trails, so people don't have to beat up their sheetmetal. It'd be nice to be able to bring a group of vans and other fullsize rigs down for some wheeling....

Thanks man! I'll definitely have to make a trip down but after I complete the conversion. Still have to drop the tranny and fuel tank, make the necessary mods then install the transfer case and should be good to go! Truetrac was installed in the rear and its pretty nice! I'll consider one for the front too.
