I'm looking forward to hearing what kind of shape PINS is in.

Me too!

I've seen my fair share of tar balls from growing up on the coast, but I hope its not too bad...

Of course, I'm sure there will be lots of trash, with the storm that just went through to the south, and all the volunteer groups focusing on oil cleanup.

Crystal beach was clean-ish... Galveston island down by Jamaica Beach was OK. Galveston's sea wall=nasty with fat people in bikinis......... I did see some Oil guys patrolling Crystal Beach, and there were constant helicopters following the beach.

I did not see any tar balls this weekend. Not one... thats a good sign. The beach was actually cleaner then I have ever seen it. There must have been another recent cleanup that I did not know about. We got back in late last night, so I did not have time to get the pics off of our truck camera... I forgot the G11 at home. :(

We had a short but wonderful weekend. We arrived around 2130 saturday night, and "enjoyed" a light rain shower while we set up camp. We cooked shrimp scampi and asparagus in lemon butter sauce, and decided against the mashed potatoes this time. After an Australian Reisling and a long moonlit walk on the beach and we were ready to climb into the new to us RTT. We awoke before dawn and took another long walk on the beach. The dogs wore themselves out chasing seagulls down the beach and swimming in the surf, and slept the whole way home. We talked breifly with one of the rangers as we were taking down camp. He really liked the RTT and the fridge and spent a pensive moment figuring out my snorkel and precleaner before petting the dogs and driving on down the beach. We departed around 1200 sunday, with two sandy and wet dogs, and sand in places we never knew we had...

I can see now what all the buzz about RTTs and fridges is about. I never knew what I was missing. Glad I finally have a real expedition vehicle now ('cuz I was just pretending before, with neither of these :) ). I have yet to paint my new storage system which was, as usual, completed the last minute before a trip.

I got some pics of the sunrise. Hopefully they will come out well. I was really missing my G11 this trip.

Somebody stole a couple of your beers!

Bwahahaha, great first post. :sombrero:

Anyways Leary, have you heard for sure as to whether or not Darin is going to running that route you planned out this weekend?

Looks good Mike. I'll help you finish the system out when I am home. If you dont want carpet on it, I can round over all the edges with the router and polish it up a bit with some trim and fixins.

I need to finish mine, and take pics of it too. Do you see how abnormal this job makes me?!?

cover it in something Leary. truck bed liner or even a nice stain just to keep it a little more water resistant and just clean up the look. carpet can get annoying.

Yeah, i am painting mine gray, pink or black. I'm painting the inside of my drawers white for light reflection and the outside black or gray.

Yeah... you would paint it pink! :coffeedrink:

I was thinking a rubberized paint that will also help with sound deadening. The only bad part about the cargo loops are the fact that they rattle quite a bit. I would appreciate any help you can give me, Scott, and thank you. It could use a little attention from a professional.

I also need to decide on a latch system for the slide outs.

I'm pretty sure I bought them at Lowes, but I had/have some cargo hooks that are similar to yours, except open on one end and have a spring on it. No rattling and stay down when not in use. I'll look for them at lowes and home depot tomorrow and pick us up a few...

Mike, what did you end up doing about your alternator? Did you go back with a Denso? I'm thinking I might need to upgrade mine, but I'm concerned about running into the same problem! :snorkel:
