Mr Rooster-> 4th Gen 4Runner build

Hi,

I'd like to add to this popular section my newly acquired 2005 4Runner Limited V8. This is my FIRST Toyota ever. I've had Hondas, Jeeps and Nissans for the past 16 years but I never had the opportunity to own a Toyota. A few months ago I started dreaming about more power. I wasn't particularly happy with the power level of my 97 Pathfinder. I knew I wanted something with a V8 and it was time for something newer as well. After much research and hours of Google Image search, I purchased my first Toyota.

Here is the build thread for my Nissan for those interested:

Moving on to newer, better and more powerful things. I present to you my new project.

I wasted no time moving my ski/cargo box over.

So, here's what I removed from my Pathfinder that will makes it's way into the 4Runner in the next little while:

ARB CKMA12 High Output compressor with air up kit
Rigid LED Dually- 1 pair Amber flood and 1 pair white spot
Kenwood DVD Navigation Sirius deck
Compustar 2 way alarm/remote start

I've already made a few major purchases today.

ToyTec Ultimate lift (Coilovers, diff drop, sway bar relocation and Bilstein shocks)
BFGoodrich All Terrain TA/KO 265-70-17
Warn Zeon 8S synthetic cable winch
Spidertrax 1.25 spacers

I'm hoping to install the lift and tires in the next few days time permitting.

Next is the ARB front bumper and some armor.

The goal is pretty much the same as the Pathfinder was: Daily driver capable of having fun on the weekends.

Good choice with the upgrade. I owned a 4th Gen 4Runner a while back and although it was only a 2wd it was still a great vehicle. Good luck with the build...looking forward at seeing your plans.

You certainly aren't wasting any time. Looking good!

X3 But wow, that's quite the parts haul already!

I bet you guys all looked at 4Runners before you bought your Nissans:shakin::shakin:

Nice! Now let's see it installed!

I'm hoping to have all the suspension and tires done some time next week. I'll be sure to post pics.:26_7_2:

Cant wait to see it installed! You will find the diff drop isn't necessary on the 4th gens. Check out toyota120 for lots more info.

Hoping to get it all installed this week. It'll be a lot of work between the radio, compressor, suspension, tires, spacers and getting the alignment done. I'm also looking at ordering an ARB bumper in the next few weeks. I'm really nervous on how the Toytec Ultimate suspension is going to ride. I'm hoping it's comfortable. I'm also hoping I did the right thing in getting 265-70-17 tires.

I have heard that Shrockworks takes forever to get stuff done. In some cases up to 6 months. I don't think I have the patience for that. Right now I'm looking at ARB and Demello Offroad bumpers. I guess it'll come down to cost, time frame and weight.
