Are these worth it? Or would an ARB or ViAir be a better solution?

Based on my own experience, and from what I've read on the internet, these are faster than the ARB's and comparable to the ViAir's.

I have seen them in action and have one very similar. They seem to work pretty well. Not as quality as a ViAir, but for an inexpensive alternative they do a good job. Can't beat the price too at $50. I got one similar to the MV-50 from Pep-Boys for somethng like $70 and I am not dissapointed with it. It even works well keeping the tire pressure up on my Altima.

I've gotten 3 years of uninterrupted service out of mine, using it on a fairly regular basis. I use it to air up 285/75's and now 255/85's, plus two airbags in the rear. I've heard of a few owners blowing a fuse but so far I've had no problems.

I bought two of them years ago when they were on sale. Still haven't opened the second one yet. They're good little compressors for airing up tires and airbags.

I'd advise you all to take off the end of the compressor that houses the power wiring and switch, and at least check, if not re-splice, the connectors inside. The stock splice connectors are cheap and I've seen two units short inside. After I re-spliced mine, I've had no related issues.

I have two as well. 2nd one never taken out of the shrink wrap. I echo the comments on doing a throrough check of all wiring. I had to resplice the fuse holder connections the fourth or fifth time I used, but has been rock solid ever since. I've had mine three years now and I use it fairly often during the three warmer seasons.

For the novices who may want one - it will run much cooler if you run your engine during operation, just like an electric winch and all other electric motors (it likes full voltage and draw).

They went up to $56.75 including shipping (no longer free).

I have one of these on my truck, and it seems to work very well for my onboard air

I bought one from Pep Boys (had a gift card) and it was DOA. Returned it, got some other stuff. Doing C02 instead.

because it is a viair. :victory:

as others have mentioned, this compressor is THE best bargain from a performance and cost basis. it currently serves backup duty to my on board viair 450C, only it's CFM is much more, so i tend to find myself hooking it up as well when airing back up. if you don't need to run air tools or need constant duty, get this compressor...or, 2. ;)

Thanks 111db and go4aryd for the suggestions to check the wiring on these!

I just got one and, although the splices/crimp nuts seemed to be fine, the endcap covering the wiring was on at best finger tight, and the wiring was pinched between the case and the cap.

The wiring insulation wasn't cut but it was probably just a matter of time before a short developed.
