Curious about the Ford tank, by the tank profile pic, it doesn't look like you have a body lift on, right? So it only hangs down below the framerails what, about an inch or two with the skidplate? Did you use the Ford pump? Can you provide any more details on that portion of your project?
Ford tank is from a 94' F150 with a 5.8L. Although, the 302 is the same tank. I used the Ford sending unit and pump. Just wired it in. I live at around 5000ft in elevation, and the pump works fine with the Supercharger as well. I even run the stock injectors and no other fuel upgrades. No pinging at all.
No body lift and it fits between the frame rails perfectly. I cut out the stock tire carrier crossmember as it hangs down way too low anyway and obviously a 37 isn't going to fit anyway. I mounted mine snug up against the body, and it hangs down about 2.5" in front and 1.25" in the rear as the tank is tapered towards the rear. I notched the body a little for the new fill tube that I fabbed up. Other than that it was pretty simple.
The fuel gauge will work backwards or you can turn the float wire 180* and it will read 3/4 when full and empty when empty. I am actually still trying to get mine to work properly since installing it. I think something is different on the 99+ fuel gauges than the 96-98 versions. A couple guys have done this tank previously and gotten it to work, but I think I am the first on a 99+ year. And, I know that Toyota switched the fuel gauges on those years from the previous years.
What is really nice is that it creates a lot more clearance on the gas tank and centers the tank in the rig.
