My 72's "Chevy" Wagoneer

Hey Guys & Gals, So I recently just became the owner of a 1972 Jeep Wagoneer with the drivetrain out of a 84' Chevy K5. (6.2 Diesel, 700r4, NP208, Dana 44's on 35x12.50xR15's. I traded My 99 bravada for it & basically gave up all the luxury & all the options for something more... Practical.
So that all being said now I have alot of work ahead of me.

building a new harness for engine.
Building a new harness & replacing the stock guages for functioning ones & adding acouple.
Building a new harness for the taillights. (Right now only the blinkers & headlights work)
Finishing the linkages for the transfercase.
Finishing the exhaust.
Re-doing the brakelines down by the OP.
cleaning up & re-doing some of the interior.
Minor body patching & Paint.

& That's all before I really get in to modding it.. haha

Well heres a few pics from the day I picked it up & from the OP.

Looks like quite the project. Should be a great platform when completed. Good luck on the build. I've always had a soft spot for the FSJ's.

Cool start to something with a lot of potential! :)
You may want to look into either the upgrade for the 6.2s glow plug deal or maybe troll Gov liquidation and see if you can score a "new" 6.5. Nothing like a diesel in a FSJ...should have come from the factory that way! :)

Getting a 72 FSJ for a Crapada is a perfect deal!! Can't wait to see where you take it!

Cool "Wide-Track" Waggy - I have only seen two or three of those - looks like someone did a good job on it.

Enjoy the project - I'm in the middle of a 79 two door Golden Eagle cherokee resto-mod for overlanding/trail running.

Hey guys! 1. Thanks for all the comments & 2. sorry it took me so long to get back to ya. I forgot my password awhile back & then forgot I started this thread & found it back while surfing the web.
I haven't got as much as I would have liked to this summer with bills & other stuff so its been slow. I'll post pics of the few things I have gotten done so far.
I got the interior ripped out & bedlinered the floors.

Things I dont have pics of currently..
are some "new" Front seats from my father-in-laws old conversion van.
wired up a mechanical gauge set from oreily's. I've got the temp & oil psi. hooked up & everything was good.
I picked up a Milemarker Humvee winch off a guy from work for $50 thou I still need to research how to convert it from 24v to 12v. Im guessing new solenoids.
I also got a brand new 48" highlift for $40.

Recently the battery took a crap so I need to get a new one & I'm throwing around a few ideas on how to get a seconded on in the truck, preferably under the hood. I'm not quite done with the ripping out of the old eng. harrness & old crap under the dash.

ZJ- I am too. Those are the kind of mpg's hoping for, also considering converting to black diesel in the future after a few other things.
I'm workin on getting the head gasket done in my work truck done tonight & it's just sitting next to me, just taunting me. I can't wait until I get caught up on projects to get some more wrenching done on it.

You are likely familiar, but have you checked out www.dieselplace.com yet? My tow rig is a 6.5 turbo diesel and have found that website very helpful with these Detroit diesel engines. My buddy has a 1988 Suburban with the 6.2 and has added the Banks turbo, if he gets under 20-22 mpg it's a bad day.

Red- Ill try reposting them tonight from home, I posted them from work yesterday. sorry about that. do you how to post them from photobucket it keeps saying invalid file..

zj- yea I've poked around on there some. There's alot of good info thou the stuff I've read always seems to end with replace it with a cummins.. lol
& i don't have the cash for that. How does your buddy like the Banks sys? I've debated it but I really wonna eventually run "Black diesel" aka used filtered motor oil with 20% normal diesel. imagine a full tank for an hours worth of work filtering & 15 bucks in fuel!

Before & after floor bedliner. ( the previous owner seemed to think rtv was a good way to patch rust spots so I just bedlinered over it. Its not a total resto- job.)

I need to finish the dash but this is the majority of it done. (possible dash mat yet. I'm still undecided)

Future push button ignition & the original dash cluster. I'm gunna put a custom speedo / tach cluster back in its place.
