Long story short, the evening before leaving for Moab, I had to pull my aftermarket hitch. This due to the shackles hitting because i was loaded (the jeep... not me). That totally effed my bumper dumper. So today i pulled the bumper, cut out a notch for one of the few receivers i have lying around for my adventure trailer project. Here are the pics...

LOL sounds like about 1/2 of my outta the norm improvements. "Wow, that looks good!" : one week later: "Crap!#%*!, didn't think about that. Now I gotta tear back into a stage that I thought I'd checked off the to-do list."
Don't sweat the YJ. Everything on it was good enough to have been kept essentially the same from the beginning of time. They only started changing it up to satisfy the squishy, coochie-coo crowd who wanted to look macho and arrive without bleeding kidneys and spinal compression! Wimps! (PS don't look at what I did to my "YJ" build.) The only upside I found to owning a TJ was in the sealing of the top/windshield frame/cowl joints. In every other area I'd pick a '80s CJ thru YJ. JMHO tho.
You've already got a good rear bumper so if you ever feel you want to improve your ride and articulation as well as load capacity pickup a new spring mount kit and slap in some longer truck springs in the length/rate of your choice. For speed use, consider a front shackle reversal. I rode in a rig with 3" SUA lift and shackle reversal and the ride quality at speed was much nicer than any other lifted Jeep I've experienced. Hill climbs are the only place I've heard anything negative about doing one, no personal experience with that however.
Thumbs up on the build, wish I'd have done mine in stages and kept it drivable as long as possible before blowing it all apart for a total redesign. I probably wouldn't have ventured as far as I have down the rabbit hole.

So here it is... I dont know who John Bull is but his trails are OFF THE HOOK... For those of you in socal you might have been on this trail.
Background: John Bull is a trail in Big Bear Ca that has a lot of large rocks/boulders...
So our guide... was on a bad @ss LJ with dana 60s at both ends riding on 40s accompanied with 40 inch I will roll over anything tires.
And there we were steering John Bull and all its might awesomeness of rock crawling glory.
So there i was... the little yj that could... and i did... not withstanding a little damage, but after a few road sodas of encouragement I was ready!
My only goal was to test the rock slider i built... goal achieved. For the next 2 1/2 hour in the dark of night John Bull and I became not only aquainted but best friends & worst enemies.
The little YJ that could... did.
This was some of the most epic $hit I have ever done and I am pretty sure my dad would be proud.
Damage report:
Bent rear shock mount
Both front shackles bent
Exhaust manifold cracked
Rear main seal leaking
Rock sliders worked awesome
Front & rear bumper dented/scratch but still good to go

Okay... so I found a little time to work on "my ********"...
We (my homies and I) are getting ready to do a little trek called the Mojave Trail, but Ive been caught working on all their "********" and not mine. Today was awesome, not only did my brother come up to brook town, he worked on my stuff, found a spot for my nitrogen bottle & motivated me to build the front storage off the fridge cage/slide. Now i have to give a shout out to eddie Jones, he was clutch on keeping me on point with the fridge slider and he had his own **** he wanted me to weld (which is still pending in the shop).
So without further adieu i give you the fridge cage/slide, front storage for oil, dry food, any suggestions?
Please realize i am at a disadvantage from the get go because im the guy that hopes things go wrong on the trail because im the guy that has worked on 7 out of 8 vehicles in one way or another. But im also that guy that carries way to much stuff!... i.e. recovery, tools, nuts, bolts, clamps, electrical connections etc... too many trips tp mexico...

To back up a little bit on bringing "everything"... fuel has been a little bit of kryptonite... next post is fixing that. I bought 3 gallon rotopax but they just came out with a 3.5 gallon fuelpax. Not as thick as the original rotopax but still 1/4" thick which is better than any jerry can (sorry if your name us jerry). On ebay right now they are $60 & get a second one 1/2 off, free shipping. Mine are coming on Tuesday & i will let you know the quality of them. They still have the 1 year warranty & th mount is only $30.

Fuelpax (by rotopax) are not as beefy as a rotopax but I love the size (3.5 gal) and will be mounting another one on the other side of my spare. These are still very well built & 10 times better then any "jerry" can out there. Due to my real estate or lack there of, the fuelpax is the best fit for me.
