As some of you may know I work at JC's British & 4X4 as a tech. Last October I had the opportunity to buy a lifted 98 Disco with a blown engine. The engine blew in spectacular fashion twisting the #7 and #8 rods around the crankshaft and blowing a hole in the side of the block. Talking with Jeff we hatched a plan to install a 4.6 instead of just swapping the 4.0 for a good used 4.0. We had a good used 4.6 from a range rover on the shelf but he knew it had a cylinder liner knock. We tackled the pinning procedure while it was on the stand. Long story short I fired it up tonight and it runs beautifully. On with the pics!
When I bought it:
Hole in block.
Bits of engine:
Rebuilt heads:
Pinned sleeves:
Power washed ready for install:
Engine ready to install:
Installed (excuse the belt diagram, had to use a used radiator from another vehicle as mine was falling apart)
Just have to add the finishing touches.
