You were right; many, many more pictures! :D ... but it's good, I like looking at the places people go and the ways their vehicles evolve.

I'm in the same boat as the poster above, no readily available Patrols here (save the very old K? series ... from the late 1960's - only ~2600 imported) in the US. Other imports are only a handful that came in privately ... I can't remember if the US rules are 15 years or 25, but I think it may be 25. But I've got my '08 Xterra, and it suits me well.

Too bad you couldn't keep the matte/flat black paint, your truck looked really good in that trim.

The Y60 model as mine will be legal next year through the 1988 models! As somebody told me that Nissan Patrols were not accepted in the US market because of their inline engines, not sure really.

The Police Command (Headqaurter) of Dhofar Governorate, Oman is only 3 km (2 miles) from my home! So I was lucky for not being caught with that paint for like 7 months :victory: As I directly drive to the mountains *_^ I might make a legal matte paint but that would cost me, as I just paint it with regular, cheap black because it's always vulnerable for scratches in the woods :) Maybe for my next Y61 ^_^ That matte black was as cheap as body polish!

It's now in garage for some custom iron flares :) Thanks for the comment!

BEAUTIFUL PICTURES !! I've never imagined that arabian countries , Oman is very beuatiful, your pictures are stunning. The Y60 is also very aggressive looking, congrats man !!

Thanks, man! Yours is great too! Mine needs some lift + new tires, they'll be ready by late April, hopefully. Thanks for the comment, my Patrol-mate *_^

Salam and welcome to the Portal.

I'm green with envy....I wish my Arabic language skills were HALF as good as your English language skills. Your attention in English class was obviously keen.

Anyways, nice truck and beautiful photos. Keep up the great work and please stick around. It's always good to have another viewpoint.

Salam and thanks a lot for your greets :)

I will be around! Thanks for your compliments! Now is the dry season, I hope I'll be ready for the next monsoon season physically, and Patrolically!

I'll post updates if anything new is available :) Greetings

Those are really nice pictures.

Thanks a lot, friend :) I'll post more detailed reports later. Regards!

It is nice to see you using your rig for what it was intended for. Thank you for sharing these pictures and you have a very impressive Patrol! I'd love to see more pictures if at all possible.

Thanks,

I'll update the thread with photos, trust me *_^

Thank you for your interest, dear scrubber :)

Great truck bro, are you sure you're not from Temecula California... LOL

Haha! Thanks ^_^ But it's not always as green:

Big Shoes Coming in 2 Months!

Just paid to order "5" 35x12.5x15 or 35x12.50R15 Cooper Discoverer STT's, dealer said it's 1558$ but might try to lower the price to 1428$ after they get the tires after 2 months "late May", hopefully. For 15-days order, airplane shipment I should pay like 2025$ after 40% discount!! Well, I'll wait in that case :)

Then lift will be made, 1.5" body, 2-4" suspensions.

Safari snorkel + Hi-Lift jack should be installed before June to be ready for the monsoon season, "Khareef" locally.

My mudflaps has been destroyed while surfing on beach dunes except one! So I'll take off all the factory flares/mudflaps and make some new, custom-made, 3.5" iron flares for like 390$. One factory mudflap is 181$!!

Even if such coincidence didn't happen I'll do that. It'll take about 2 weeks to make them all. Before that my front/left wheel beads were loose and the tire got off while driving at a speed of 120 km/h "75 mph"!! Skied for about 100 meters straight then parked it, funny thing is the wheel was jumping for nearly 2 floors high and went left first then headed right for about 150 meters! was very close to sink in the sea >_< Lucky didn't roll over, plus the car had no serious damage and put the wheel back.

Any update will be shown with photos. :ylsmoke:

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident. I am looking forward to seeing that thing on some 35s and having a snorkel up there. Where will you put the high lift mount? I am currently putting together a project that would allow me to mount my gas can and highlift on the spare tire mount and easily take it off when not needed. right now, I have a spot to fit it to the rooftop cargo rack and a make shift way to mount my gas can mount and gas can to my spare tire carrier. I am open to giving any advice needed. A welder does come in handy for these things though.

No problem, best thing that nobody got hurt as there were 4 cars right behind me and 3-4 in front of me, not to mention the cars from the opposite lane!

Snorkel needs a factory air intake, I guess. I'll search for a used one or might buy a new one before buying the snorkel. Now using an aftermarket air intake which is exposed to water and mud.

About Hi-Lift jack, I would put it on the hood:

As it might catch some branches if driven through the bushes:

As I'm kicking some branches like these, LOL! They cover the road sometimes and you listen to orchestra play when driving through ^_^

Thinking of some good camping tints as at night the Arabian leopards, wolves, striped hyenas get active, and worst of all, snakes! But most of them avoid humans and it's very rare to be attacked by any, even for cattles and camels

As you're better than me in 4x4 modification, is it enough to use bigger shocks + longer suspensions + body lift for a start or I might damage other parts? And I'm not a hardcore 4x4 driver, at least for the meanwhile ^_^

For the 35s, I'll shorten my front bumper as it can be shortened very easily, look at the beads:

For your gas can, do you mean a cooking gas or petrol jerrycan? If you mean a jerrycan you might ask for GCC spec or Aussie spec factory jerrycan holder for Pajeros if it's not expensive in Mitsubishi's.

That combo to get the Patrol up some will work fine as a start and even for the rest of your ownership to be honest. Be sure to get shocks that are mono-tube in design as they are far superior to a twin tube for off road use. I think the shortening will be just fine as a way to fit 35s.

For my build, I was talking about a jerry can. I already have the universal mount for it as it was only 14 US dollars. I can easily weld it to the bracket that I plan on using to connect it to the spare tire mount. As far as the high lift being on the hood, I am not a fan as it would require some major bracing of the hood and would surely cause metal fatigue on the thin sheet metal. Opening the hood would be a bit of a chore I assume. Enough about mine though as this is your build thread. :)

Keep up the pictures and getting out there enjoying your rig.

Great vehicle, and amazing photos.

Thanks, Andy! Actually I wanna know if there is a thread for Q/A about warn winches, I really would love to get one!

I think the only thing that might suffer is the rod, I might buy thicker rod later! Thanks for the advices :)

I'm putting it on the hood as a used, clean hood would only cost like 1/3 of a Hi-Lift jack price if needs to be replaced ^_^. About opening the hood, it depends on how high it is and how close to the joints. I thought about placing it vertically instead of horizontally, but it can be dangerous if an accident happens!

About shortening the front bumper, I can cut 1-2 inches or even leave it as it is but with the big tires and shorter bumper it would look more aggressive, I guess. But still, I want a good bumper with a winch when I catch enough money!

It's never enough about your rig as your feedback is priceless and helps me a lot as very few people here care about mud as mostly enjoying beach sand and Rub' Al Khali dunes with their sand tires!

This is about 200 km to the north, Al Hishman dunes, Rub Al Khali, Dhofar, Oman:

And if they think about mud, they enter with no modifications and no snorkel!

The rest just do this! Modified Land Cruiser:

The guy in the beginning of the video was driving at a high speed! 180 km/h "111 mph"!!! On wet, tiny street during monsoon season "Khareef".

Problem is that most of Nissan Patrols from the Y60 model (88-97) are making nightmares for the police, so if you have a Nissan Patrol in that model and you see police you better be ready to see him flashing! This is in my city too, Salalah

But I use the car just to explore the land :)

Keep in touch and thanks a lot for your advices ^_^ I'll post some new photos soon!

I noticed you have a hood ornament.

Is it stock?

It looks very similar to the one on my Safari. I automatically thought someone put it on aftermarket.

Sorry for being late! Yes, it's stock for GCC market and other markets, I believe.

Personally, I might pull it off and fill the holes later, they look good if you're looking for shine and chrome!

Warm greetings :)

Muhammad, thanks. I'll be glad to see the updated Patrol:).

You're welcome ^_^ These photos show the new steel bumpers I installed with the 3.5" custom mud flares, also I pulled off the hood ornament to make it look clean. Still with the 32" tires + no lift:

Still working on some rust found in the lower body

I think it will look perfect after the lift + 35" tires *_^
