KC, I wish I knew what was so painful about that. What are you doing with your hands these days that would cause that much pain?

Certainly the nylon is lighter than canvas; however, the Eezi-Awn's are not that heavy. The framing is all lightweight aluminum and the design is very well done.

It's all in the numbers baby!

The Back Porch weighs 15 lbs.

Actually you and I talked about the canvas material, which I used for a few months and decided that was "overkill heavy" because it just didn't roll up compact enough for me, and we hadn't even gotten to adding the sides yet.

While we're at it, I wish that the Eezi-Awn tent was made of nylon rather than canvas simply for the weight and space savings. Total conjecture on my part, but they could probably fold to half the height when all closed up.

***I'd love to locate telescoping poles that use the twist lock devices, or find the twist lock hardware to install on my own aluminum poles (your advice is welcome)

Over the many years and several boats...I ended up with two "surplus" Garelick brand extendable boat hooks. I carry these for my tarp as they make great outer tarp poles being adjustable, rugged, and light. I also at times use them just to "grab & drag" stuff from the front of the truck bed to the back sparing me having to crawl into the bed.

Garelick (or other makers) might just sell you the bare poles as a replacement part and you could customize as you needs dictate as far as end fittings. Might be worth checking BoatUS/West Marine.

I have a question. In your first picture, there is a really cool looking, wooden, 'X' frame table next to your pickup. What's the story with that? I've been looking for that sort of table for a couple years now, but can't find one anywhere and that just makes me want one all the more. LOL
