My diesel YJ

Thought I'd post this up here I just picked up this merc diesel powered YJ. It has a AX 15, 411 gears, 33's and a 4 in lift. Future mods will include a safari rack and basket, power steering, lockable storage and a family style roll cage and I'm sure quite a few other things when I get to it lol, anyways here it is.

Thanks, it's got a few issues to work out yet, but I've always wanted a diesel jeep and it doesn't hurt I'm gettin about 30 mpg on the highway :) I really like the availability of parts for the merc motor and the guy I got it from did a pretty good job with the instal.

Nice work, What motor did you use? Specs and more about your build? I had a 4 cly, manual steering 89 YJ before I did a frame off build, 6.2 Detroit Diesel (former HMMWV motor) turbo charged it, SM465, NP205, D44 wagoneer axles, 6 1/2'' of lift over all. would love you hear more about yours and congrats on completing your build.

Edit: The coffee kicked in, Mercedes diesel gotcha. cool, I have seen this build before and had looked at it for my GF's YJ in the process of being toen down for build but found a more friendly donor for hers. 4.9 ford with 5spd OD.

Sweet! I'm going to do this swap in my comanche and I'd love some info on your build! Specifically, did you build an adapter plate for the AX15 bellhousing? Do you have any pictures of the setup?

I didn't build it but it is a custom adapter, the flywheel was re drilled and it retains the jeep clutch and may be the starter I'll have to check on that. Power is great actually besides a little turbo lag but when it's spooled up its very similar to my buddies TJ with a 4.0 auto

Do you have any pics of the adapter? Did you do the conversion or did someone else? If so, who did it? I'm super interested as this is the last piece of the puzzle for me.
