Alright, its about time to get serious on my Truck.

Base

2006 Ford 6.0L 4x4 200" Quad Cab XL trim
Automatic w/manual transfer case
4.88 OX locker in front
4.88 LS in rear
Completely stock engine transmission with exception of complete EGR and affiliated replacement per warranty(truck has less than 60k on it) i follow the KISS principle. Once i get a few more miles i will address the rest of the engine issues w/o getting stupid
Dual tanks19g fore 40g aft

Already done

OX Locker out front
Fiberglass front fenders to allow for tires
4" lift up front and heavy springs out back( was a line truck with a full steel body on the back, removed and added the front lift to level it out until i get the back finished, then will decide on the rear suspension)
12.5 x 20 Michelen XLs
Stazworks 20x10 split rim w/o double bead lock( had rims machined to accept internal beadlock if i deem necessary in future)

Intended Use

Extended single person camping with multiple dogs and still usable as a pick up when needed, but primarily a trip truck not a DD

Necessities will be typical

Heat
sleeping quarters
shower(likely under the RTT)
shore power with battery bank and solar back up( i am going to try as much as possible to use electrical to supply needs, heat, hot water etc. fully realizing battery bank will need to be able to accommodate usage. I want to stay away from propane or diesel accessories. Since i will not train dogs or bird hunt below10F heating will not be a huge factor. if it dictates, i have a wall tent for more permanent excursions with the necessary equipment).

So tell me what you think, an no need to be gentle.

Sounds like a great concept, cant wait to see the actual pics once you get started. Looks like you are going to have tons of space if just traveling by yourself.

Subscribed. Obviously you won't be rock crawlin' with that beast but it's a pretty good foundation for a well equipped truck.

Skip the shower. Unless it's a full on 5iver style huge shower, a Zodi shower tent seems more acceptable to most of my family/friends.

Tight little Rv showers stink, and make the rig all humid and stinky. I allways ************** about how expo sized slide in campers had no showers, but now that I have more experience, and have used tent showers, I know why. It'll take up a ton of space as well.

So when you have your choice of a Zodi shower, Pilot/Flying J shower, state park shower, hotel/lodge shower, river, creek, lake. Travel and showers is a breeze.

I'd add a box/space to safely carry and operate a Zodi Propane tent heater for the RTT. Sorry, but propanes perfectly safe if you are careful. A tent heater can turn a complex night of sleep in cold weather into a simple luxerious experience.

No it wont be much or a rock crawler, unless by just putting a tire on a boulder and it will crush under the weight. :) Deep snow and a Dakota farm road is the worst it will see( if you the Dakota or Canada, those roads turn to slop with a good rain........clay....yuk)

It will be a shower tent under the RTT using a portable water heater, a shower floor, this way can crawl right up to bed. I have used propane and kerosene for years for camping. Going to attemp a complete electrical set up this time.

Actually, my plan so far is too, make a sunroof in the box so I can crawl up into the RTT without even going outside and then the shower on the other end. The box heater will rise up into the RTT. Going to use a small rv roof unti I am thinking to suppy heat and a/c to the back setup.

The rear is a factory Limited Slip and the front is a Dana 60 locker. Since i installed a couple of years ago, there was not mechanical option so i had had parts from an Ox locker set up and i had the carrier/locker machined to fit in the diff a fork to operate. Now it seems OX has an off the shelf option.
