I'm running the 918 springs in the rear (constant load) with the N125 shocks.
The Med. duty 917 springs are a progressive/variable rate spring. It sounds like these may work for your purposes.
So the montero came with what appear to be dealer installed rain guards on the windows and sunroof. I would love to remove them but they are glued on with some industrial double sided tape. Has anyone come across these and had success with removing them without damaging the truck? I'm assuming a heat gun might help but maybe there are more tips?
And Goof-Off. It takes the remaining adhesive residue off with out harming the paint. If you were closer I come over and remove them for you so I could put them on my wife's Montero. I love those things.
You can also use dental floss to cut through the foam tape in a sawing motion and goof off the remaining stuff. Use an old credit card and finish up with lots of rags.
Whatever you do don't toss them. To my knowledge you cannot get them anymore and there are a lot of people that would like to have them. I had a front "bug guard" that was an extra and sold it on ebay for a small fortune a few years back.
I mocked up the truck with the spare tire from my brothers fjcruiser. It's a 285/ 75 /16 km2. It's jacked up in the photo, I didn't want to drop it down since the centering hole is different and thought it might damage the studs. I think I am gonna put this size tire on but the ko2 instead of km2. The one photo shows the difference between the 285 and the stock 265/70/16. I also restored the headlights. The kit cost about $20 and took close to 2 hours, but it made a huge improvement!
New idler pulley and subwoofer show up tomorrow so I'll have some more work to do. I also bought a timing belt / water pump kit and valve cover gaskets. Those are lower on the list at the moment.
Replaced the destroyed factory sub with a kicker 8" 2 ohm sub today. It sounded awful at first until I realized the 3rd row seatbelt was rattling due to the bass vibrations. I removed that and added some dynamat type materials and the sound is actually quite good.
