My Humble Hundy Build

The truck looks great. Looking forward to watching the progress. I just picked up an 07 myself a couple months back. I'm new to the Toyota world and am trying to gather as much knowledge as possible. The Nittos you just installed, are they 295/70/18s? What is the amount of lift you had to install to clear those. My truck has 18" wheels so I am just curious. Thank for any info you can share. I am eager to begin my build as well.

Tire size on a 100 series isn't affected by lift due to the IFS front end. Tires larger than 33" are typically going to rub unless spacers or a body lift is installed.

Thanks for the kind words. She's coming along. As the truck sits now I just have the stock front torsion bars cranked up to compensate for the larger tires and ARB bumper. In the rear I have Old Man Emu 865 rear springs with trim packers. My truck has Old Man Emu shocks all around as well but those don't affect lift height. I do have a set of Old Man Emu torsion bars and 864 rear springs coming with my order from Slee. Once the rear bumper is on and a winch is fitted to the front bumper I'll need the heavier springs to maintain height. Not planning to go much higher, maybe 1/2"-1", but rather maintain ride height when loaded. I keep the drawer/fridge set up in all the time so couple that with the heavy rear bumper and full size spare on the steel wheel she will be quite the pig. The RTT and awning do not stay on all the time but when they are on that's another 150-175lbs.

These trucks get heavy quickly with accessories and loaded for a trip. :smiley_drive:

Nice hundy! Love the color and wheel combo you have going on, these trucks look great with a little kit added to them. Keep up the good work.

More terribly lit cell phone pics but I had to show off the 4000s

I love the city light feature on these.

I had a few hours of while the kids were napping before the trick or treating started up so why not work on the Cruiser. The big brown truck had dropped off a Safari Snorkel on Friday so I was itching to start cutting and drilling holes in my passenger side fender.

Not much of a write up but I did snap a few pics along the way. I had installed a Safari Snorkel on my previous 80 series truck so I wasn't as nervous this time around. That being said there's still a increased level of anxiety when cutting a 4.5" hole and drilling several other holes in a perfectly good fender. Happy to say the install went smooth with no mishaps.

The mock up.

No turning back now :Wow1:

For the A-Pillar mount I chose the deviate from the instructions and use Rivnuts. These allow the use of a standard 1/4x20 bolt. I've never been a fan of the plastic speed nuts that come with the snorkel. I chose to remove the power antenna altogether as I use satellite radio or the iPod.

Great looking LC! Good job on the snorkel. What roof basket do you have in the first pic of post one? Looks fairly low profile. Any more pics of it?

It's a Rola Vortex with the optional extension. It's not the best quality rack but it works well for occasional use and is very low profile, even when attached to the factory cross bars.

Thanks for the info. So you were able to rig it up to mount your awning to it? Do you have any more pics of that setup or even just more pics of the truck with the basket on it?

Yes, I was able to make a set of custom brackets that allowed the ARB awning to mount to the Rola Rack. It worked well. I'll see if I can dig up any pictures of the set up.

Super nice! Great work!

Thanks :friday:

Came home yesterday to extra large pallet from Slee that included the rear bumper/tire carrier, a set of OME Torsion bars and the Slee diff drop. Now to find time to install everything!

More to come...
