Nice to see the 100 coming along.

I ran into you on Imogene and again at that gas station in Moab, we were in the grey Jeep WJ. We need to hit a trail sometime.

Aaron,

Nice to see you on here as well. The WJ is coming along nicely and I love the trailer. Shoot me PM next time you guys are heading out and we will try to make it work as well.

Nice to see another NCer. I'm in the Charlotte area. We really enjoy the Wilmington area as well and spend a lot of time in the summers on the sand at Fort Fisher.

I've been trying to find other overland style rigs but there doesn't seem to be many in my area. Mostly just beach rigs and rock monsters. I like playing in the rocks some but mostly like to get out and explore.

Did you perhaps used to have a super slick grey MJ?

I know it's a decent drive from the Wilmington area but you are welcome to come with us anytime or the next time we are down there I'll shoot you a PM.

Yes sir! We built a stroked Silverstone '90 MJ with a late model Cherokee front end and full interior conversion on 35s and long arms a few years ago. I've had my fair share of built Jeeps dating back to the late 90s (man I'm getting old). Made the switch over to Toyota's a few years ago but I still have soft spot for the Jeep brand.

Yeah that'd be great. We go to URE sometimes and are in the Winston Salem area a lot also.

Bringing this one back from the dead....

So I've been a slacker and haven't updated this thread recently. I promise I haven't been lazy, I've spent what little spare time I have wrenching on the Cruiser and or out exploring with the family.

The truck has undergone a few changes since posting last including the addition of a Rhino Pioneer Platform rack, propane set up and a set of Tundra 17" wheels with BFG KO2s that are in process. The clamshell RTT we were running was sold off as well as the ARB 50qt fridge in lieu of a different set up. For the fridge I dropped back to the ARB 37qt and mounted it on top of my existing storage box. This allowed me to keep the entire passenger side open for storage with the option of using one of the third row seats when the grand parents are in town. Both kiddos are still in full size car seats so when we have extra passengers my son's car seat goes in the single 3rd row seat leaving 2 seats open in the middle row for adults.

I was sad to see the clamshell RTT go as it was easy to use and fit the 100 series so well but we plan to camp and explore more in 2016 with the whole family which will require a larger sleeping area. To accommodate the 4 of us the plan is to convert to a standard fold out style RTT in the Tepui Gran Sabana flavor. The existing Rhino load bars were swapped out for a Rhino Pioneer platform style rack to hold the new tent. I can't say enough good things about this rack! Installation was breeze, the fit and finish spot on and all the modular accessories available really make it a nice addition to the truck. I'm excited to bring it all together when the new tent arrives.

As for now here are some updated shots of the truck. :friday:

I like the propane setup. I want to do something similar. Can you post a closer pic of that please. What storage setup do you have in the cargo area to be able to use the 3rd row seats.

Propane is just a basic set up using a Powertank brand bracket mounted to the rear ladder that's designed for an 11lb tank. This is the best close-up I have of it.

Thanks for the pic and info. I'm wondering if there swing out for the ladder would be able to fit the propane tank so that I can swing the propane tank out to use the ladder.

Wow! "Bringing back from the dead". What, four months into the build? That's pretty impressive. I'm still poking along on my FJ60 build 15 years later. Aiming for a "finish" date sometime in 2016. Maybe....

Nice build.

Yes, but you derailed your build by fooling around with that silly "FJ" thingy. :sombrero:

Nice Hundy. I really enjoyed reading through your build thread. Hopefully I'll see you out on the road sometime.

Touché - hope to see you tooling around the back roads of NC sometime.

I think this would work as the propane tank bracket can be mounted in many different configurations. For what it's worth with some careful foot placement I can still use the ladder with the propane tank in place.

You are right...poor choice of words. This build has been quick compared to some. I had a 4Runner before that I spent a long time building before I replaced it with the Cruiser. Going into the Cruiser the plan was to build it to a to the point of the 4Runner quickly.
