Pkripper.....I had Muley Point all to myself.....only there for 24 hours but didn't see a soul. And actually, for the most post, I'm not seeing many people out there in my travels this year. There were definitely more last year (so far).....
Ace.....I know that spot but we didn't drive there. We walked several miles of the rim and I have pictures taken from right there at that spot. I can easily see why you like it & I'd doubt most people would drive that far so I'm sure you would have your privacy while camped there.....
ITTOG.....I guess I unfairly tend to see things through only my eyes more than anything else. In addition, there's nothing intellectual about me. What I spoke of there is one of the aspects of this particular trip that I sorely miss and also is what I alluded to several posts ago. It's probably why I say disparaging comments about the whole idea of overlanding. Through my eyes, there just needs to be some kind of physical & mental challenge combined with the goal.....not always, but certainly sometimes if not most times.....
Alex Honnold is in a league of his own.....he's started a movement and soon enough there will be many more of his kind.....so many talented young people are now gravitating to the sport.....
Once again I had to make the decision whether to drive north to Moab, Utah or to go spend some time along the rim of the canyon walls at
Muley Point . The woman I met at the
Bears Ears National Monument Visitors Center said you've got to spend at least one night up there. Well, I was close, so I once again bagged the Moab, Utah idea & drove west on Highway 95, hung a left onto Highway 261, drove south once again, got distracted by a sign, and ended up in the Jeep bound for
Moon House.....
Initially
Snow Flat Road was not a bad one.....that changed after just a few miles.....
It was a bit over eight miles of bouncing around in that Jeep.....some of the worst roads that we've been on for a very long time.....
I recall thinking while I was driving here how I'd much prefer to walk over this stuff and eventually that's just we did.....
We parked the Jeep at what appeared to be the trailhead and then hiked from there, down a single lane sandy road, which was in way better condition than what we had just drove.....
After a short hike of less than two miles we arrived at the canyons rim.....
