My last hurdle - condensation

These heaters make very low CO, a tiny fraction of the percentage of an engine. If running under way, neither pipe can be facing towards or away from the air stream. Note that that dust ingestion long term causes issues.
At least for a smaller space, I think one of these would warm up an insulated trailer fast enough that it wouldn't be worth the potential trouble of running while underway.

I agree. The only concern would be possibly freezing contents of the trailer on a long drive in very cold weather. Not likely to be an issue though.

In my case I really have no concern of things freezing but may change if I get into some really brutal temps now that I have some motivation. I was able to warm things up nicely about 30 mins before heading into the cabin for bed, it was off the remainder of the day.

now, if only they made an AC unit that fit in a 14x14” fan opening!

You may be right but I just hope there isn’t a 12v unit hahaha....no more upgrades. Till 2020...

And it this little thing I’ve been eyeing for years since the 1.0 version.

If that combo heater you posted uses an aluminum heat exchanger, it won't be suitable for raw water (coolant only). You would need a coolant to plate style exchanger (or water heater/tank) to get raw water heated.

Another option is to put a ~6" radiator in the heated air flow. This will let you heat raw water for bathing if desired.

That hurdle isn't even in my current race! I think I see the home stretch and finish line on this build! Going for a few victory laps then back to work haha

What is the best way to maintain or “summer-ize” the heater for warmer temps? I won’t be using this heater much above 45* F. Is it ok to leave the diesel in the system or somehow drain it in the spring? I imagine it would see 6+ months of absolutely 0 use every year.

I would suggest running the heater for 30 minutes every 30-45 days. This keeps the fan motor bearings lubricated, and blows any crap out of the lines.

Good video, looks like the unit would probably fit in my current rig with 2 extra holes haha. Luckily I am not in need of plumbing. @luthj out of curiosity and pardon my ignorance but can you tell me why this would not work for human water use and should only be used for engine coolant?

Depending on the heat exchanger material type, it may rapidly corrode if used with fresh water. After a few years you may have an unpleasant leak. Also there is the risk of freezing, so considerations need to be made for that if the interior is allowed to freeze.
