Nope, haven't mounted struts yet, but did try some. I have purchased 2 pairs of struts from NAPA, but for some reason can't get any of them to compress at all. One strut, rated at only 80 lbs, holds up the entire lid (with tent) without compressing at all. Even when I pull down on the lid. I'm baffled.

The whole strut thing made me feel like such a moron that I bagged it for the time being. I'll probably summon the courage to give it another go over the off-season, using some McMaster stuff.

Sorry to pepper you with questions, but what are those adjustable tie down rails in the bed? Where did you get them? They look pretty useful.

Those are Core-Trax tie-downs, and you can get a kit of long and short ones from Costco using this link here

You can buy Core-Trax at other places, but Costco seems to have an exclusive on the combo kit, which is a great bargain for what you get.
