My new 09 Tacoma

I just picked up an 09 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road this weekend. I had been waiting for an 09, oddly enough for the safety features. This is also the 1st truck I have ever had. I've been reading this forum for months trying to piece together what I wanted.

I have only had it 3 days but I have already noticed that the front seat seems horribly uncomfortable if I drive for more then an hour. I drive it 2 hours yesterday to pick up my kids from the inlaws. My wife, kids and myself filled the vehicle, but is was fun and my girls seem to love it. Are there any fixes for the short seats and low angle?

Nice truck! Are the seats different than the previous trd seats? I think the seats are very comfy, my complaint is the mesh material is hard to clean.

I don't know what the old material was like, but I can see how this would be hard to clean. I am 6'3" and the seat length/angle doesn't support my legs very well. Its fine locally, but man, on the road my legs start to hurt. I really hope that I haven't made a mistake.

I find it hard to believe that my Element had more comfortable seats.

I really like the color. I have always wanted a vehicle in charcoal grey, I wish they had it in 07.

What are the safety features that the 09 comes with that were not available before?

Agreed - If I can pull off the SAS on my 05 I am also going to swap the seats. Recaro makes some cool looking truck seats - FYI.

Welcome! As far as I know your the first 09 on here.

As far as seats go I have a 07 SR5 Tacoma so I don't have fancy seats and I find mine very comfortable.

I like that color too. So much for Radiant Red though

I don't know how the seats compare to the 4Runner, but I can't stand the seats on my 06. They are way too short- no thigh support. My 4Runner also does not have a telescoping steering wheel, so when my legs are the right distance from the pedals I am almost straight-armed reaching to the wheel. 6'2" here.

If you find a solution I'd love to hear it.

Toyota truck seat are like a car where you seat low. My 89 and my Taco seats where this way.
Element seat are more like a chair. My Ford was this way and my Frontier is this way.

I love the looks of your truck. Not having been shopping for a new Taco lately, I was curious what the different switches are in the lower left dash shown in this picture.

The top row looks like a foglight, rear diff lock, and some kind of an inverter (especially interested in that one), and the bottom row starts with the mirror adjustment switches, but I have no idea what the three to the right of it are. Thanks for the lesson in advance.
