My new 1993 FZJ80

A new horse in the stable.
I posted about buying a real beat 1994 FZJ80 for $1500, but decided to pass. It drove fine, but was more "weathered" inside and out than I have time to play with.

On the way home I stopped to look at another (really not on the way, more out of the way, but is OK) and this followed me home. 1993 Land Cruiser with 166,000 miles, front and rear lockers, no major dents, almost everything works.

Some stuff to start working on, remove aftermarket alarm, replace brake bulb (hopefully), figure out the oil leak near the power steering pump, fix stereo speakers, adjust sunroof so it sits flat and work on ds window so it rolls up and down (track issue?)
The seller was very open and honest about these problems. If anyone has links to these repairs, please share.
But I am very happy!

Oooohhh a new project, looks pretty clean. What's the plan for it's use and what mods do you envision? But please tell me you still have the Tacoma.

Yep the Taco isn't going anywhere.... this all started with a $1000 beater '94 FZJ80. It was so rough that I was needing to get a lot of parts from a wrecked truck, so I was at $2000. This one was only $3500, with lockers, and 80k less miles.

That's a real bargain. Locked JZJ80's are not that easy to find. $3,500 is a steal.

You might have just given me a nice dose of reality--there is a '92 for sale locally for $1300. It looks pretty rough and high miles. I am reallly tempted, but your starting point is just so much better for not a lot more $$.

Daveyboy, I agree, this is a better starting point, the '92 is a 3FE engine, that alone was a deal killer for me. I think I got a great deal at $3500, most of the ones around here are $5k-$6k and that seems to be stock or with mods.

Funny, Deb and I were just talking about that, she just assumed I would have to bring the new TOYota... It has the factory rack, so I might try that. I have been searching for some Thule gutter mounts on CL, but no luck. We are excited for the float!

Just be aware that a 92 and 93 and above are different trucks. Differernt drivetrains...
