I'm keeping my eyes open for one of those blue ones... and one of these!

That makes me miss my old '88 SR5 4R :-D

The best thing about these was the look in my wife's face when I put them in the shopping backet

I bought 3 of the blue ones on Amazon after I read the original post, but now I have to find the red one! I want to paint the blue one the same color as my truck and the reseal it in the package...I am even shaking my head at myself.

Last year while walking through the Buckley AFB Base Exchange I happened to pass through the toy aisle and saw a "desert adventure pack" or something similar - 5 matchbox cars for about $5.

They were:

- A dune buggy of some type
- An off-road racing pickup or tow truck of some type
- A LWB Land Rover Defender with no top and a military-style full roll cage
- A pristine orange and white FJ40
- What appears to be a Jeep Wrangler TJ (round headlights, not square.)

For $5 it was too good a deal to pass up. I didn't care about the first two but the last three were what got me. I also saw a "jungle crawler" which was a WWII-era Dodge WC53 Carryall with some fancy graphics, so I got that too as the WC-53 is one of my favorite vehicles of all time (it's actually the "granddaddy" of all enclosed-body 4wd SUVs.)

I'll try to post up pics tomorrow or this weekend. They're all still in the packages.

They're interesting collectibles, I like the rather mundane ones, to be honest. They seem more "genuine." Of course, you have to wonder who they're making them for. It's easy to understand why a kid might want a race car, but a plain-jane Volve XC-90? (yes, I saw one in a different kind of "multi-pack" yesterday at Wal Mart.) What kid wants an XC-90? Might as well have a toy mini van. :D
