My new pocket knife, CRKT Ignitor!

I have been wanting to get a new pocket knife for a while now and decided that I'd go looking for one this past weekend. Then during trophy presentation after my son's last soccer game of the winter season on Saturday the team's parents presented me with a thank you card for being the coach. Inside I found a $50 gift certificate to Cabela's! :wings: Perfect timing.

I've never let myself buy a really nice knife for myself, I always wind up getting a $15 combo blade that never seems to last. So, before even receiving the gift certificate, I decided I was going to get a good knife. I had my sights on a Benchmade, CRKT or Spyderco.

I found a really nice assisted opener from Columbia River Knife and Tool:

Stellar job coach! It is cool to get appreciated for doing something I'm sure you enjoy. There is feeling about quality tool, like they were cast from your own hands. Nice knife BTW.

Good choice Brian, I love their knives. I have owned an early 1* CRKT M-16 Tanto since 2002, that knife has been around the world with me. Still razor sharp too.

Colombia River makes great stuff and they stand behind them...
I own a few and my younger son has a number of them.
But Brian I would go to Big 5 as they have a bunch of CRKT's on clearence so maybe you can get the knife cheaper and save the gift cert for something else you need?
Just a thought

Too bad their Illegal here....

I've been wondering about that.
Obviously it is legal here in AZ as I purchased it here.

When I was growing up I remember "switchblades" being illegal in Illinois but I always thougt a switchblade shot the blade out the top of the handle.

This CRKT is in the "asssisted opening" category. It would be interesting to look at legalities state to state.

Cool Knife, almost need slow-mo to see that.

I'm still shocked the Peoples Republic of California still allows assisted openers...they like to ban all my fun:sombrero:

That's a sweet knife. I always liked CRKT knives and own a few, but the one thing I can't stand about them is that pocket clip! If I have an assisted opening knife, built to deploy fast if I need it... who wants to pull it out of your pocket blade up, fumble around flipping it in your palm, then open it? I'm clumsy enough to drop it when I would need it most.

Here's my daily beater, been in my pocket every day for the last 4 years or so...

You can buy them here too but their still illegal though. Just about any knife is illegal enless it's a small fixed blade or a "swiss" type. This state even made knifes that can be opened with one hand illegal, even if there's a little stud on the balde to help open it, it's illegal.

I used to carry my SOG Flash all the time and someone told me it's illegal so i checked and sure enough. Kinda sucks, i can carry a gun and it's far more dangerous.

Then again i would think you would have to really piss off a cop to ticket you for something like this.
