I purchased a new ARB Deluxe front bumper yesterday from 4wdparts.

Should arrive in 4 weeks or so. I'll post up pictures once I install it.

I need to purchase some OEM fog light connectors as I read the connectors that ARB gives you are junk.

They are junk. I went onto eBay and searched for H11 male connector. Assuming your fog light bulbs are the same as on the Tacoma, that should do the trick.

Thanks for the info. I will search ebay for them.

I believe mine are 9006 connectors not H11 for the fogs.

So I finished my ARB Deluxe Bumper install.

I installed it myself and it was not that hard to install by yourself (thanks to all my boxes of firewood). It took me 3 days to install (with a toddler running around during the install). I have to say the bumper looks sweet. At first I was little indifferent about the looks of the ARB but now I keep going into the garage to have a look at it.

After a few days I lowered the bumper to give a bigger gap from the bumper to the fender (about .6-7 inches gap). After this I drilled 4 of the locking screws so now the bumper is not going anywhere. It is a total PITA to align the bumper. Took me a few hours to do this.

What I did different from ARB's instructions:

- Bought a pair of male 9006 plug socket connectors to plug into the OEM 9006 female plug fog lights. I did not want to cut the OEM fog light socket off.
- I hardwired both running lights and turn signals into the vehicles factory harness with 3M heat shrink butt connectors with adhesive for a waterproof seal (see pic of harness). ARB supplies really bad slice connectors. Do not use these.
- I bought 4 1156 amber color LED lights for the turn signals and marker lights. The outside light is the turn signal and the inner light is the marker light. LED is important in this application because if you use an incandescent bulb for the marker/running lights it will slowly melt the plastic.
- I siliconed the turnsignal/market light housing the best I could to create a watertight seal.
- I still have to buy a 3 pin waterproof connector so I can get rid of ARB's non waterproof marker/turn signal connector (see pic of harness, its the white ARB connector).

I weighed the ARB bumper with a bathroom type scale. Before purchasing I could not find how much this thing weighed. I got anything from 80lbs to 180lbs on various posts on here and other forums. So I decided to weigh it myself so other people can get an idea of the how much this bumper weights.

ARB Bumper - 112 lbs
ARB cross member brace - 22.6 lbs
ARB frame brackets, middle skid plate, left/right lower side panel covers - 29 lbs

OEM Toyota cross member brace - 18.4 lbs
OEM Toyota bumper cover, small metal bumper support pieces, etc - 4 lbs

NET ARB Bumper Weight - 141.2 lbs

After the install ARB provides left, right, and middle plates to cover up the holes on the lower bumper. The middle fit perfectly but the left and right were bent wrong from the factory in Australia. They almost fit but the front portion of the plate was bend the opposite way (see picture). ARB is sending me a new set of left and right lower bumper cover plates.

Well here are the pictures.

Nice work! I keep going back and forth on the ARB bumper too. It's good to hear that it has grown on you. I may have to reconsider.

Definitely get it you won't be disappointed. No cutting up the stock bumper either to use as filler pieces for gaps.

I decided to lower the bumper to ARB specs. I should of done this in the first place. I now have an even 21 mm gap between the bumper and the fender. ARB specifies 20-25mm gap.

Heading to Death Valley tomorrow for a 6 night stay. Going to visit Barker Ranch, Mengel Pass, Goler Wash, Barker Ranch, Geologists Cabin, Rita Cabin, Briggs Cabin, Russel Camp, Springs, Eureka dunes, Cotton Wood Canyon etc.. Should be an awesome trip!

I really love the look of the ARB now. Suits the 4runner very well IMO.

Here are some photos of the bumper lowered a little bit.

Yesterday I came back from a 4 night Death Valley trip with a friend that is visiting me from Europe.

I searched a route I wanted to take via Google Earth. I started the route at Ballarat Ghost town and headed into Pleasant Canyon which ended at Roger Pass at 7000+ ft. I turned right where Rita's Cabin is and headed towards Briggs Camps into a different canyon. Camped at Briggs Cabin and headed South on Wingate Road to Coyote Canyon Road and went to Barker Ranch. After visiting Barker Ranch I went through Mengel pass into Butte Valley and exited Warm Springs Road to highway 190. From there I stopped at Badwater and Furnace Creek the usual tourist spots. After there went to Eureka Dunes and headed to the springs via Steel Pass. Steel Pass was very long going, It's a little more difficult than I remember in the past. Took me 3 hours to get to the springs from the dune.

This was a fun route basically all off road. The only pavement I was on was from when Warm Springs Road hit 190 and than I took the 190 to the turn off to Eureka Dunes. Highly recommend this route since you basically drive through 4 canyons.

In the first 3 days I only saw Jeeps out there. When I got to Briggs camp one of the Jeepers looked at my strange when I told him its just me and a buddy with 1 vehicle.

Here are some pictures.

I just got back from a recent trip on the Mojave Road. I only did about 1/2 of the road due to have a 2wd vehicle with us.

One of the perks of having a ARB bumper installed. Instant bar table for beer. :)
