My new-to-me 6.2L Disco

Thanks for the post Ray.

Removing the insulation pad isn't really an option for me -- the 6.2L is far too loud to lose that much soundproofing.

Hmmm, only thing that I can think there if you wanted both benefits would be to remove the pad, install the louvers, and then put on spray style sound deadening material.

Yeah that or cover the inside in a Second Skin type of deal. I think if I started to go that route ($$$) I'd probably need a better idea of how much the louvers would actually help

Valid point, sadly my evidence is anecdotal-though borne from a group of experiences akin to yours. If I put my other hood back on at some point I'll do some measurements of the variation in temp between the two. In my case I didn't want to mar the hood with a blackout or the hood pins so it was easier just to grab my old one as a spare.

If you're like me, put it way down on the giant list of projects to do and time/resources will get you there eventually since you may not need to make the plunge just yet.

New radiator went in today for a test fit and it fits beautifully.

Time to order the dual electric fan setup...

Got a good deal on a floor model Columbia Overland rear door plate and installed that today.

I know, I know, I'm missing a bolt! I found it a few minutes later.

Fans came in today. They fit the radiator and the engine bay perfectly. 2500 cfm should do it!

Bunch of parts are coming in soon -- once I get the radiator mounted I'll be moving the truck to a proper bay with a lift. Lots of things on the horizon, stay tuned..

try this now, drive under 2000 rpm. around 1900. and you will not need any fun, . the heat problem comes when engine is going over 2100 rpm. and at 2500 rpm as you and i drive, is called OVER REV :)
yours is better, at least you can change gears, on mine i am stuck lol

and then comes the 6 speed T56 and changes everything. :)

When I was in the Navy and before I found out how cool it was, I had a K5 Blazer with the 6.2 and a 4 speed stick. The guy I bought it from owned the local diesel shop and had put a Banks turbo on it along with putting marine injectors in it and fiddling with the pump. I drove that thing like my socks were on fire. I ended up selling it after my first cruise because my girlfriend said it was too loud. I should have kept it..........

This project is going to get kickstarted after a looooong hiatus.

Lots of wiring to do... I'm lazy enough that I'm considering hiring an electrician to build me a loom that will include the 4 roof-rack Hellas, the 2 bumper IPFs, and the radiator fans.

Swivel ball seals need fixed, along with brakes. Everything else still looks tight. Engine bay is still a wee messy but I think that's unavoidable with any conversion. Motor fires and runs as smoothly as it did 6 months ago. With diesel at $4.15 down here it'll soon be time to get serious about alternative mixtures.

Stuff to install: HD axles F/R, mantec snorkel & skidplate, white Wolf wheels (still unsure on tire, but 32" and skinny), fuel tank skid (thinking of painting front skid with Union Jack --cheezy?), and rear TruTrac. Might get some HD torsion stuff as I've managed to bend two tie-rods.

Toyed with getting CT signage vinyl cut but again such a fine line between lookin' good and trying too hard.
