my off road camping trailer slow build

Ok here are some pix of a rough plan I am going to be building and one of some of the sheet metal I got for free its 12g and im going to use it for the main tub and for the fenders and ill be using some lighter steel for the other box and lids ill post up my material list soon im still debiting on what to use for some parts but I am going to be basing it off of a m416 look and I will have independent air ride suspension and 33x12.5x15 tires and most likely a AT coupler and an camping lab RTT some other goodies but I most likely will not really get started till after I get back from vacation in the first week in August I just have to much going on before then so anyway here are some pix

Ok well I lied on when I was going to start this build but I have changed vehicles a lot sense I posted this until now I got the one I want to keep for a wile but I had been collecting parts like spindles hubs wheels tires most all the steel to build a roller air bags and bushings a new plasma cutter,a camping lab rtt and some other little things. Well today I marked and cut the 12g sheet metal for the tub and I'm going to take the sides to a local shop and have them bent and this weekend I'll start laying out the frame and I'll try to get some pix posted then

Thanks. Yes it's got a rancho 4" with the t-bars cranked 2" and a 2" aal in the rear and a 1.5" body lift and 315/70/17 treadwright guard dogs

And no I don't have a build thread yet but I will soon

Ok I know it's not much but I got to use my new plasma cutter on the 12g sheets to cut out the tub now I just need to take the 2 sides up to the metal shop up the street so they can bend them for me here is a pic of the floor and one end propped up and one side is leaning on the old boat trailer I'm taking the #s and title from for this trailer and I'll be using some of the box tube fro me it to cut costs

Here are the wheels I'm going to be using for the trailer and no the boggers will not be on them I have some 32/10.5/15s mt's to go on these wheels and the boggers will go on to spares for my truck depending on where I'm wheeling at

And I plan to cut that boat trailer up this weekend and I have some new box tube I'll be using also,so I should have the frame all layed out and at least tacked up before I have to go to work on Sunday

Thanks for posting your build. Did you take your body tub dimension from an existing trailer? Also, wondering if when you have the sides bent, do you have tabs bent at the ends for welding? Or will you just butt the corners together and weld. I only ask because I am starting the same way you are, with new sheets. Thanks for the input, hope it goes well.

I had researched and found the original dimensions and when doing so I found this file on here that had all the dimensions and bends already figured out to what I guess is right so I was going to build it to those measurements but the free metal I got I could get the floor and one side out of one piece but would have a 5" scrap so I decided to make my sides 5" taller so now my tub is 23" deep instead of 18" deep but here is the link to the file I don't remember who made it but it's nice http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=55294&d=1301501887

Also there is no tabs I'm huts going to be butt welding the tub together the 12g is plenty stiff and thick enough to get a nice weld on

Thanks. I got the pdf of the panels, too. I have also measured an old MBT/M100 I have that I do not want to modify.
That's a good idea to raise the sides, I think. Several people have commented that some of the fridges are taller than 18 inches. Not that it matters to me, the off road fridges are too expensive for me to get one. But having taller sides just lets you carry more stuff, and maybe make a cheaper flat lid, without losing any space.
I can't wait to see your trailer progress.

not a lot of progress this week end becuse my grinder broke and i went to pick up the tent but i got the main rails layed out and i used a pice of scrap to just lay out some of the suspension parts to show what i have and will be using and here are some pix of the new to me camping lab tent

I found the tent on here a member was selling it for 800 and it's the biggest one camping lab sells and it's only a year old and does not look like it has ever been used but the seller said he had used it 3 times but you can't tell
