Great find! Definitely get the extended warranty. Learn about bushings, as they are just about the only Achilles heel the LR3 has. Spend some time learning how to use the TC. It's pretty much is a big red Easy Button, but it does take some getting used to so that you can minimize wheel spin and tackle bigger and knarlier obstacles. I have a lot of LR3 related info on my blog site (www.nextstepdesigns.com), but the best way to learn about the LR3 is to frequent these two forums:

- LRRForums is good too, but not as much LR3 related content there. DWEB is pretty useless for LR3 owners.

I dont know that you have to have an extended warranty for the LR3. Then again, we now have a Transfer Case Special Programs (or something like that) fault after I hosed down the engine bay. So I may regret not having the extended warranty.

Anyway, I state you I dont think you need the extended warranty because we bought an 05 LR3 SE in Oct of 08 from Red Mountain Rovers. The LR3 had 55k miles on it. We now have 95k miles on it, and the only thing I really have had to repair was a windshield seal and the washer fluid tank. Other than that in the past 40k miles we just change the oil every 5k miles with the Castrol 5w30.

I just know that the maintenance and repairs for our well used LR3 has been nothing like the 4 previous rovers (D1, 2 DIIs, and an P38 RR). Our LR3 has been reliable and trouble free. I spent something like $13-14k in repairs and maintenance on my D1 over 4 years that I owned it. We dumped the P38 6 months after we got it due to constant issues. The 02 DII had $13k in repairs in approx 4 years (but I learned and had an extended warranty). The 00 D2 had the extended warranty more than paid for during the 1 year that I owned it. Extended warranty even paid for a replacement (albeit POS) short block which I ended up replacing again 3 months later

Dendy, note if you do the oil changes yourself Castrol Syntec 5w30 is the only approved oil for the LR3 V8.

Discoweb is useless for LR3 owners?
Or it's not a good place for clueless people trying to make big talk about a truck they know nothing about?

nwoods loves the LR3.
He loves it so much and has such great confidence in it that he dumped it and got a Jeep.

Dendy,
That is a great looking vehicle. My wife actually loves the G4 orange, and wants to get a G4 Range Rover if one could be found in next two years. When you started searching, where did you look to find a G4? We always prefer to go certfied, so buying privately is not preferred, but on the table.

Long story short:
I know the original owner. (Pennsylvania)
He had it for sale on Land Rover Exchange, but I wanted to get it Certified.
An independent rover dealer new Nashville purchased it, and I arranged a trade with him, but passed the truck through the local dealership and had it Certified during the transaction.
A round about way to satisfy the means to an end.

My guess is that Dale could find you another!!
:coffeedrink:

he probably could. dale has a knack like no other for finding the cleanest LRs around... but i'm preaching to the choir here. frankly, it would be best to steer clear of "the trader" and his trucks if i want to maintain my good standing at home.
