Well as any project goes, there have been some changes. Found a great deal on a utility shell for a full size truck and that did almost exactly what I was going to build.
We stripped all the lights and misc fasteners off and started sanding. Had some paint mixed up that matched the jeep. I hated the weird yellow/tan color the trailer used to be.
Nice!! I was thinking of something along the same lines... similar to Serenity. Option two will be to fab up a rack and skin it in sheet metal to form a similar shell. Plan is to have my son sleep in the shell with the wife and I in the RTT.
I am planning on making some extended trips with this setup so I wanted some extra fuel capability but didn't want to lug around a bunch of gas cans and I still wanted to utilize the empty spaces on the trailer. I drew up and built this tank to fit under the bed close to the front of the trailer.
Working on a small control panel for setting up the camper. The little switch panel is sealed and just a touch panel. There is a 12v outlet, 2 USB outlets, a fuel gauge and a volt gauge. The switches turn on the outside lights, water pump, fuel pump and the inside accessories fuse panel.
It's tough to cut through a perfectly good panel but onward and upward. Making a slide out for the stove and sink. Used some HD 500# capacity slides 60" long to hold these and assorted cooking stuff. I'm going to love not having to drag that stove out of the back of the camper every time we stop to camp.
