Need help choosing between a new Roush ford ranger, Colorado zr2 (gas) or a Toyota Tacoma.

I’ve bought and sold used lately. For me I pay cash- the Toyotas make sense.
I saw that article and I guess I’m confusing what super cruise is. I see now it says will offer adaptive cruise, but not super cruise so I think super is the next level up. I’d be fine with regular adaptive cruise I just couldn’t do regular cruise control ever again. My commute to work is effortless with adaptive cruise and long trips are much better with it.

I believe Super Cruise is GM's version of Hands Free Driving. Like Ford's Blue Cruise.
My wifes Bronco Sport has Lane Centering and Adaptive cruise and it will pretty much steer itself all the way around our city's ring road. (Although it yells at you if you don't have a tight enough hold on the steering wheel.....

The Tacoma has a miserable drivetrain and ergonomics. In the midsize the Ranger Tremor is the best all arounder after driving them all. The new Colorado/Canyon might be the new bestest but I haven't driven one. After doing a really thorough drive of all midsize and full size trucks on the market the midsize just stopped making sense. My fullsize with a camper is pulling comparable mileage to a lightly modified taco...

Its hard to make the jump to nearly 80 inches wide the idea of full size is a big step. I did it in 2019. Honestly unless you do narrow brushy trails the mid sized unless its full on desert racer trim is only an advantage with its 75ish width. Length they are nearly identical.
Power and mileage the full sized super modern stuff just woops the old mid sized NA powered junk. Especially with 9-10gears.
The all new AT4 Colorado/ Canyon is definitely a serious contender!!! Just announced last week. Way better interior, technology and running Sierra 2.7 running gear. Its no joke. I like Ford but midsized the 2023 AT4 is a class act 100%

Why is it that when anyone recommends Tacoma's they are automatically a "fan boy"...no one says that about any of the folks here recommending the Ford or the Chevy....strange.

They all yell at you but don’t stop you. Only thing they will do is brake the car if zero driver input is detected, ie you passed out or are way into the porn on your phone to notice.
Ford has gone a step farther. Most current version tracks your eye movement. If your eyes are obviously way out of the looking forward zone the car starts to question your intelligence with suttle reminders, eventually it assumes your dead and takes over???

Because after 27yrs of Toyota trucks my self you need to be completely out of touch with reality to think the Tacoma is anything but dated over priced crap at this point. Buy a 12yr old Tacoma with an updated head unit you get a better truck?

That being said, I think the new Colorado isn't hitting lots until next spring. Same with the redesigned 2023 Ranger.
And I believe Toyota should be unveiling the completely redesigned 2024 Tacoma next spring as well.
It will be interesting to see if they addressed any of the gripes about the current truck.
I read a rumor it *might* be getting the turbo'ed 2.4L 4cyl engine out of the Highlander. But who really knows at this point.
I'm guessing that by that time at least one should be offering a hybrid or PHEV version as well.

I recall reading something a while back that Ford delayed the Ranger because they realized it needed to be hybrid/plugin/ power boost capable which lead to a big mind shift in the whole truck design. A XL Ranger power boost will become the mow and blow yard crew rig in the next few years. My crew has started adopting electric tools of the trade and the old Toyota cant chargers them. So currently he has a 450 watt panel on his bed rack tied to a battery box and inverter with a cobbled together charging station. He likes the chain saw and bush clipper. Has just started using a line wiper and said it was surprisingly good. Blower and mower are going to be the last two to switch to electric. He said a compact pickup or van with power boost like capability will be a must have sooner than later.

Okay. So is that why it wasn't released at the same time as the 2023 world Ranger or are you talking about a further delay?
Yep. I've been slowly converting all my tools from corded / gas to battery.
Maybe next summer swap out my ancient Toro. I almost feel bad doing it though. The damn thing has been so good. I never do any maintenance and the thing fires up every time. I'm sure it's gotta be 15 years old....

All good vehicles. I went with the ZR2, not because it was a better truck, but because I could get one sooner with the (lack of) options that I wanted.
The Toyota TRD PRO was going to be a 15 month wait.
