Need Help removing M416 shackles

Sarted taking the M416 apart...
have the front shackles off, and the tops of the rears, but I can't get the dang things loose on the bottoms (to the spring)

I am missing something or is there a trick?

I hate to cut them off and have to buy new springs and shackles

Left hand threads! IIRC, one end of the "U" shaped shackles are left hand threads. Try turning the other way and see if they come loose.

Been a few years since I pulled mine, but I believe that's the trick.

I know I've busted a few bolts over the years, not realizing they were left hand threads:Wow1:

Like the ring gear in the Chryco 8.25 rear axle in my XJ. Broke/stripped 3 before I figured it out:elkgrin:

Finally got the darn things off!


P.S. also looking for a spare rim and tires in VGC
