Need help sourcing part...

Hey guys I need some help sourcing a part...

I need to replace a side release buckle on my Can-Back, and recall seeing a post at one time with a metal side release buckle that had a screw that went through the part that is already sewn.

It was similar to the one above, but as mentioned had a screw through it (instead of the bottom metal bar) so that the nylon strap did not need to be taken apart and sewn again... and it was metal or aluminum so that the sun UV would make it a great replacement.

Anyone know where I can find these?

No luck on McMaster-Carr, Google, or my search on here...

Of course black would be better, but at this point I just want to fix it with the best...

Like these? This one is from a scuba weight belt.

I would suggest also looking at your local medical store that sells wheelchairs. If I remember the one my buddy had, it was a mini vehicle seatbelt that had a removable pin on one side and cam on the other. It would be 10 time stronger then a plastic buckle and would last forever.

This may be a stupid question, but have you called Can-Back and asked? They are back in biz, right? Or are these not what they use and you are upgrading?

Yeah they are total boneheads.... I ordered a part back in Aug '07... and call every week asking where the part is, and I get a different excuse each time.

So, I want to fix it my way, which will be way better than the orginal anyways!

If the buckle that mountainpete posted will work, there is a local "XS Scuba" (the people who make that buckle) dealer in Mesa Arizona that should have them or atleast be able to get them.

Here is their info:

Here is the part he posted, on the manufacturers website:

I had some spare computer time today and I have looked at side release buckeles till I was blue in the face, and the one mountainpete found is the only one I saw with a removable pin. Would it be that hard to re-sew the strap on the more conventional style buckle? Good luck!
