So basically, a person who buys the mv50 for weekend offroad and home domestic tire filling would not be disappointed?
Glad I came across this. I was thinking of pulling the trigger on a similarly priced viair, but looked here 1st.
That all depends on how lucky you are. Some people have good luck with them, some don't.
I had one for years & never had significant problems other than being rather slow & over heating a few times during the summer (no permanent damage - just had to let it cool off & it was fine). I've seen a few threads on various message boards where people detail how they (easily) modify theirs to get better volume out of them.
Other people I know had constant problems with them.
Really, it depends on what you're doing & what your comfort level is.
If you're OK with driving down the highway at trail pressure if your compressor quits, or you travel in groups that have a spare that you can borrow, or you only use it once every couple months . . . the MV50 isn't a terrible idea, IMO. In my TJ, typically running 12psi on the trail & 33psi on the street, it worked fine.
On the other hand, if you're frequently 100 miles from the nearest air compressor, solo, and need to get you're tires back to 70psi for the ride home - the MV50 probably isn't the way to go. After having to air down to 10psi in the truck (+camper) while on the beach in Mexico, then come back up to 70psi for the ride home - it kind of sucked. It took an hour to get back to 45psi, at which time we limped into town to finish the job at the Pemex.
FWIW, I use a Vair 450 now, & am quite happy with it.
