I have found a M101a1 Trailer that is in relaitivley good shape and want to make it into a Good Camping/ expedition style trailer. The price is right and close enought to go pick it up. I have a 2010 Tacoma and was hoping someone could tell me if i have enough truck to pull it . I know some of these trailers can be quite heavy. Any input on this would greatly help me out!

You should be fine. Tacoma is rated at least for 5'000 lbs which is about the weight of another loaded Tacoma.
I pulled more with my '05 4Runner V6, so you should be just fine, unless you'll be taking your house with you. :)

I agree...plus if your planning on doing an axle swap to match rims...that'll help lower the center of gravity.

The newer ones have a surge brake on the front. I'm planning on cutting it off, swapping the axle with an electric brake axle to match the rims on my 4runner. Then I'll drop the hitch down a bit to and get rid of the pintle setup.

good luck...i think you'll be fine!

IMHO, No. That's alot of trailer. If your going offroad with it, even worse. Ths is a 101A1,they are right around 1400 lbs empty.

I vote no. i have an old one that I use for yard work and dump runs. It is awesome for that, but it is a @#%% to move it by myself on pavement I cant imagie if you had to unhook it off road for any reason.

I would worry more about the width than the weight. They are heavy, but they are also much wider than your Taco, and will get hung up...

I briefly looked into buying one of those trailers, and decided against it for both reasons.

Hey Doc,
I have a M101A1 and I use my 06 Tacoma to pull it around. Mainly highway use to the beach for camping. No problem getting it going and stopping. Its no lightweight though even empty. I also pull it around with my other truck 94 4Runner, that is a slow ride. The width of the trailer is about the same as the Taco, it matches up well. Not sure how much off road your going to be using it for but for my highway use the Taco will do the job.

I also vote NO. I had one, pulled it with my 4WD Expedition. Nice solid trailer but it's too much weight/burden on the tow vehicle; it's more suited for a 1-ton truck.
