New 2012 4Runner

Here are pics of the fender mount on my Tacoma. The mount works well for my Larsen 2/70 whip. Yestarday experimented with my Comtelco 5/8 whip, which I prefer, but it was too much mass for the little mount to handle.

Anyway, I'm not sure how the fenders look on the current gen 4Rs. Good luck finding the perfect mount.

The Larson 2/70 works fine.

The Comtelco 5/8 whip was too big.

Thanks Mike. Will compare with what the 4Runner offers.

I ran Gamiviti mounts on my old truck. They didn't fit quite a nice on my Tacoma and would have rubbed the paint off the lip of my hood as it flexed. That's not to say what he's stamping out isn't good, just that my old truck had bigger gaps I guess.

It had to be either Toyota black FIPG (their RTV for oil pans) or black GE silicone caulk. It would have to be one of those sealants since in black that's all I would've had around.
Good stuff. I like to spread the gospel of Liquid Tape.

The important thing here, which is why I brought that up, is to stress the importance of sealing the mount and cable against water intrusion. Everyone reading this thread should follow your example above.

So took a look today and looks like if I dremeled a plastic bit away I can do a similar mount. I’ll have to play around and see what works. Thanks all!

Mother nature and I have had different ideas of what the weather should be like on the weekends. While I love winter, the idea of standing in 35mph winds gusting the 50 with windo chills below zero......or rain storms with very chilly heavy rain..... isn't really high on my fun list. Hoping to get some nicer weather to do the work (or hitting the lottery to move from an apartment to a house with a heated garage!)
