I had a post about a new JK or FJ. I went with the JK cause we have always had some sort of jeep. But this is the first wrangler. I have had it now for 2 days. I love it. Coming from a 2001 XJ with 4.5" lift this thing rides like a cadillac. Here is a pic or two, but im sure everyone knows what they look like, but im pretty stoked about it..

Now just have to figure out how to mount my rooftop tent

Are you asking a question in there somewhere? And I would hope any stock Jeep rides like a Cadillac compared to a lifted one.

Just showing it off a little.
actually has anyone ran their hardtop with just the front panels on, like a bikini top? Is there a reason why it wouldnt work

Works great. Just remember to fold down those two spacer tabs where the hold down screws go through the sound bar, or when you tighten the screws down they can punch through the top of the panels. :)

Congrats. The JK's do ride like Cadillacs compared to most previous Jeeps of any type, lifted or not. Those who do not appreciate this fact ought to try one out!

When it comes time to put a new suspension under it, I can say the AEV suspensions ride better than oem and improve handling, which is a feat.

There are more than a handful of roof rack options from body mounted racks to body and frame mounted racks to top mounted racks.

For top mounted racks take a look at the soo to be released AEV 3/4 length rack, the Front Runner 3/4 and full length racks and MBPR racks which give different choices for length. I believe the AEV rack will tie into the roll cage for additional support, but I'm not sure and awaiting its release for details. Front Runner has a RTT QD mounting system which is pretty inovative and attractive to me because of the ability to easily mount/remove the RTT.

For body and/or frame mounted racks take a look at Garvin Industries Safiri Rack, Wild Boar, Gobi.

Here is a photo of the soon to be released AEV rack, which is my favorite, especially if it does tie into the roll cage:

I have a small roof mounted Garvin Industries rack, which would just accomodate cross bars for a RTT, and it is well mounted with aluminum backing plates on the inside of the roof, but it is a little too short and a little narrow, imo. Here's a photo where you can see how long it is, it would rate as a 1/2 rack, imo.

MBRP inc

I prefer the MBRP roof rack. You can get it just over your rear portion of the hardtop, or get the extension to go all the way to a light bar on the windshield. The standing weight is a lot. I dont remember exact numbers, but I saw a picture that they took and had probably 7 big guys standing on top of the rack. The moving rating is I believe around 300 or 400 which is pretty normal for any rack. One of the things that sells me the most on it though, is that when I want to go topless, I dont have a rack sitting above me blocking my view since its attatched to the top itself. If you look it up and see a 07-10 model, but not an 11-12, make sure you call and talk to someone as the two models are different due to the size of the windows on the top.

I really like the AEV rack and MBRP looks good as well. I will have to keep an eye out for the AEV rack. Both of them seem very pricey.

Well ... actually ... I have to admit that ... I'm not sure  According to the Jeep website, the max tow package on the Rubicon with the auto tranny should lead to the 4.10 but there was some confusion at Chrysler and there are some auto Rubicons with tow and 3.73 gears. The online window sticker does not mention the gear ratio. Honestly, as I'm not planning on going over 33" tires and I'm driving most of the time without trailer, I don't think the 3.73 would be too much of a catastrophe for me with the new engine, neuter a little of the temper but ad some mpgs.

It would be listed as a 50 dollar option.
I'm curious how it would tow the Little Guy... ...wonder if I could bring a trailer to a test drive?

My jeep is the sport, so Im pretty sure it has 3.73. As far a MPG I havent finished a full tank yet, but the MPG computer says it getting 16.5. But when i fill up I will check it. Still alot better than the 11 or so I was getting in my XJ.
