Don't get me wrong, the Rockies are amazing. But our mountains have trees...
...and really big feral pigs...

This is obviously way OT but....

Hailing from Colorado and having spent time in the mountains of Georgia under a rucksack, I'd like to think I can give a sorted opinion of both climates.

Far greater demands are placed on a given human being in the Georgia mountains when it's raining at 38-40 Fahrenheit than are placed on the same human being when it's 15 Fahrenheit and blowing 50mph at 14,000 feet.

Certainly there are other opinions but that's been my humbling experience having walked about the hills of both states.

Half of my family resides in Colorado so I can completely understand.
Did you attend our local Ranger school? They tend to camp in the worst conditions...
It's the dampness here that fatigues and batters so much. Unrelenting dankness. Thank heavens for moonshine and well-equipped Adventure Trailers...
