LOL; and we're back to attempted rock crawling. Frigging hilarious.
You think that's rock crawling? It's an uneven dirt road. Very common. Not even close to extreme.

it is a front wheel drive, unibody vehicle. It's everything everyone here is arguing against - "tradition"
Well, I didn't watch more than a few seconds of each video. But the titles of said videos should be hint. You think that's rock crawling? It's an uneven dirt road. Very common. Not even close to extreme.

But, yes, that's rock crawling. They are literally going up and down on rocks at low speeds with one wheel after another in the air. You know: Crawling. On rocks.
So wait? It can't be a tool if it's luxury at the same time? There's nothing wrong with fwd or unibody construction in that application. It's a tool in that it does a few things very well, inexpensively, and without luxury **************** dragging it down.
That's not what I saw. You truly are dishonest:It's dirt with a few rocks sticking out. Now I'm beginning to understand why you think new cars are so amazing "off-road".
Off-road! Thank goodness for traction control.

^ That's a unibody Fiat Ducato. Sold as RAM promaster, and it is a front wheel drive, unibody vehicle. It's everything everyone here is arguing against - "tradition"
Why do people keep misunderstanding this? Being able to update modules over the air in no way means you can't repair your car if you're out of service.
You guys own smartphones right? If you go out of service, your phone doesn't cease to operate (from a local perspective). You just can't download new software to it...
No a smartphone doesn't cease to operate. SOTA itself is not a show stopper. My point is the complexity of a vehicle and reliance on software will become an impediment to field repair. I look forward to the field repair guidelines for the MHEV drivetrain that distributes critical functionality across multiple ECU's and axles (front and rear). The goal of SOTA is to prevent you from dealer visits, lowering total warranty cost.
Although I sort of get that fear, the fact is that that was the same fear that showed its head when electronic fuel injection came about. Or turbos. Or those pesky independent suspension parts when they came into normal cars about, what, fifty years ago?No a smartphone doesn't cease to operate. SOTA itself is not a show stopper. n 1922, independent front suspension was pioneered on the Lancia Lambda and became more common in mass market cars from 1932.Today, most cars have independent suspension on all four wheels
I didn't say the pic was from the video. I was just busting your balls. A jab at your sense of what constitutes "off-road".That's not what I saw. You truly are dishonest:
Yeah, those are flat dirt roads. Seriously, how can you post something like that and not expect to get busted on your lies?
You are correct, it's basically a remote check-engine-light feature. However, I would disagree to say that the added capability of SOTA would degrade your in-field repair of a vehicle.

It doesn't matter if the length of road only have a few areas with rock crawling. When you're there and crawling the rocks, you're friggng rockcrawling.I said the first video was dirt with a few rocks. The second video was in response to your needing technology comment.
So you posted something that wasn't true to "jab" at my senses of what constitutes off road. You realise that that is lying, right?
And, no, I'm not the one who thinks that the only "off road" there is is "rock crawling". Although rock crawling is a type of off road, not all types of off road are rock crawling.

When I went to rock climb or do some bouldering, sometimes by bike (as in bicycle), that doesn't mean the bouldering could be done on a bicycle. Rock climbing is rock climbing and rock crawling is rock crawling, regardless of how you get to the rock crawling place.
That wasn't even close to rock crawling. It was dirt. Dirt normally has some rocks in it. They weren't even big enough to crawl over. This is rock crawling:
