awesome, a new leader in my rack race now. I was wondering what took Gobi to come out with a LR rack. They had one of my favorite Jeep racks. Thanks for the heads up!

I can't find it on their site yet, do you have a price yet?

Suggested retail $1699 and includes shipping to the lower 48. however, working on a package deal on them now.

EDIT: see that you are local. When I worked for GOBI full time, the installation $ was substituted for the shipping costs.

Are both sunroofs fully openable or just tiltable?

-Sam

the rear sunroof has the expanded metal over the top. The front one has an optional sunroof insert that can give you complete coverage. That is the "standard" setup. Both sunroofs can be opened fully without touching the rack.

More than rover racks, baja, hannibal, et al.?

Rover Racks/ Contractor $1339 + $499 for the floor kit. high quality though!!!

Baja Rack/ still need a floor kit if you plan to put smaller items up there or stand up there./ not the higher quality.

Hanibal Rack/ not familiar with these guys. could not find a US dealer to find out cost/ options.

The above price for the GOBI is suggested reatail and includes shipping. not sure if the other guys include shipping, I can tell you the shipping alone is $200 to $350 in the US including all the packaging materials.

...waiting to hear what the MAP is.

The rack looks nice but I'm wondering why the front part of the rack is empty? There's no floor or support bars. Is there a reason for this?

open sunroof area. On many of the SUV's many people wanted the option of having an opening or solid floor in place. Some people don;t load these racks down all the time and want the unobstructed view out their sunroof.

There is a sunroof insert that can go in there though. The expanded metal flooring is than extended over that area and does allow proper sunroof function. OR you can order the rack with a solid non-removable floor there also.,,,just like the HUMMER racks.

I feel like I've literally waited years for the release of this rack and now here it is and I have a LR3 and no use for it! It looks good. Hopefully more products for Rover applications to come.

I am certainly one for more diversity in rover after market products, but this rack seems over priced. I picked up an SD rack on craigslist that came with a ladder and 4 hellas for less than a third of this price.

I also remember when I bought my NWP rack (now rover racks) in early 2005 before I found the SD and paid 939 for it shipped to me with a ladder, its amazing how their prices have gone up.

For this kind of coin I would MUCH rather get a hannibal rack...lightweight aluminum and the full length gutter support make it worth while and I know they are under 1500 new.

At 1000 this roof rack would become VERY popular.

Dynamic = while driving (offroad or on road?) Offroad is usually 1/3 of on road
Static = Parked
