Under the Dunlop Brand:
The Rover M/T Maxx Traction, available in March, is a new on-/off-road tire for light truck and SUV owners. Initially available in 17 popular sizes, the tire features center traction lugs for start-up and braking traction in sand, dirt, wet and winter conditions, along with outer self-cleaning channels to help expel mud and debris, the company said.s2`

Ooh, I kind of like those. I think there needs to be more offerings in teh not quite MT's but deffinatly not AT's market. I think alot of us are after those types of tyres eh.

Cheers

I agree with you. Of all the tires GY just announced across their various brands this one turned out the best.

Now they just need to make it in a 255/85R16.

Kind of reminds me of my Cooper Discoverer S/T-C's. They don't really look like them... but, just the idea of a "more than an A/T, less than an M/T".

Today I was handed a product sheet for this model with a picture and a list of the sizes that will be available "1st Quarter 2009".
LOTS of larger tire sizes for this thing...
If anyone wants to know which sizes in particular, I'll type them all out.
(These would be for the Canadian market specifically, U.S. might get more options.)

Of course the first question for me is.....will they come in 255/85R16?

Alright, the sizes are apparently for the whole N. American market, not just Canada:

305/70R16..........E-ply
245/75R16..........E-ply
265/75R16..........E-ply
285/75R16..........E-ply
315/75R16..........E-ply
265/70R17..........E-ply
285/70R17..........D-ply
315/70R17..........D-ply
37x13.50R18.......D-ply
275/65R18..........E-ply
325/65R18..........E-ply
275/70R18..........E-ply
37x13.50R20.......E-ply
305/55R20..........E-ply
305/60R20..........E-ply
275/65R20..........E-ply
37x13.50R22.......E-ply

So basically they are going after the light-truck crowd with the larger sizes of both tires and wheels. A lot of the newer pickups are coming from the factory with 20" wheels.
I wouldn't hold your breath for the 255 size either, it's unfortunately not that widespread of a size in the tire market. :(

Hilldweller, here are the dimensions for the size you were asking about:
Overall Diameter
33.2"
Section Width
11.0"

And to note, these are the preliminary sizes that they are going to start producing shortly, they will likely add more sizes as time goes on.
Hopefully they will be better than Michelin/BFG in this regard...
The new KM2 has been brutal trying to get some sizes that were supposed to come out in the fall of 2007.

Oh, the 235/85R16 size is super porpular with dually applications, I would bet money they'll bring that size in, as well as the 235/80R17.

I'm lovin these tires...I've been waiting for them for a while now. They were supposed to be out February (this is back in November), but now March?

What can you tell me about the dimensions on the 285/70/17?

TIA

I really like "between a mud terrain and an all terrain"

My 4Runner has 15" wheels, so hopefully they'll come out with 15" tires.
