Thought I would do an intro here as the 4x4 van bug has bitten hard, and as my better half says "this thing is really going to happen, isn't it?" My name is Matt Lemons, I live near Dallas. I own and operate Lemco Motorsports and I do custom (race mainly) car fabrication. I found this forum after a short search on 4x4 vans, all thanks to Vanaconda. Looks like one of Ujoint's kits is in my future. Ok, so the search is on, I thought I would just pop in and introduce myself as I may have some questions for those who have some experience. I've never owned a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Heck, I even lowered my Excursion (which I'm selling to fund the build). My X is a 2000 7.3 truck, so of course I would love to find a van with the same power plant. EB, SB, windows, no windows, all of that is probably up for grabs.

I know all threads suck without pics, so here's one of the Excursion...hope the mods are ok with everything I mentioned here.

Talk to Ujoint, He is extremely helpful and has put together a great conversion kit. I have tried to talk to Quigley and Quadvan and never even got a reply.

Chris is definitely going to get my business. I've done a fair amount of research on the forums already. His customer support and knowledge are WELL documented. Thanks for the tip!

+1 on talking to Chris from Ujoint. He is nothing but helpful and will guide you in the right direction.

AND whatever you do stay out of the show your van off thread pinned to the top. I was convinced that a pop up camper was what I wanted for my silverado. I got into that thread and want a van in the worst way.

Good news is I think I found one.

Good luck

I'll give a 3rd to UJOINT. The van that I'm building will carry me and my family for meny years and thousands of miles, now after my own research I feel this is the safest conversion out there. Sure there are guys out there doing coil spring conversions cheaper(so I have heard).but what's the real price?

IMHO, leaf springs on the front can better handle heavy loads and remain more stable, where as coil springs give a slightly better ride.
