Nice work. Henry ford painted his early cars that way! Paint them than sand them glossy smooth.
can't wait to see the final result out in the sun!

Calplaya your `Burb´is looking real nice. Question is, are you sure you want that `Bling Bling:Wow1:´effect on your truck? You might be scared:eek: to scratch the truck when you get offroad. Well I geues you can just wear sunglasses:cool: to help with the blinding glare.:yikes: You have put a lot of work into that truck at it looks great! Keep up the good work and POST LOTS OF PICS!:) And, to answer your question, there is a rubber ducky on my grill.:)

HAHA I was actually asking myself that very question last night before I began wet sanding it lol! cuz it had a semi gloss look to it mixed with a flat black look. mostly flat black tho. You ever seen the movie the Expendables? The F100 in there thats flat black, thats kinda how the paint looked on mine last night. but it was kinda course from the orange peel so I figured i didnt want that on there lol. haha and thanks for the support, I was thinking maybe i was boring everyone haha :p And since you asked, I got the pics all ready to post, so their next! haha nice! You ever sing the rubber ducky song while your wheeling since you have it with you lol? :p

Here are a few pics from yesterday.

heres some of the plastic shots, also look how nice that paint looks dry, not too blingy at all really...of course when i put on the last coat and buff it out after so long, then it will look pretty blingy i guess lol :p

haha yeah your right there Chiliwak! And this is going to for a time being be my daily driver since im moving out to CO soon, so I want it to be pretty nice if it means getting rid of the Lincoln. anyway, heres another update, it dosnt look like much, but lordy did it take me a while....a few nuts and bolts were really hard to find and reach to get out and a couple were so rusted my buddy Paul had to torch them off (its his torch lol)...

I found out what the weird smell was, figured once i took apart the dash i would find something like this...
407558_3413946789094_1282770040_33519769_1514068652_n.jpg

annnd the rest, keeping the drivers seat in for now in case i need to drive it out to clean the shop or get something else in there for a bit, but today i think im going to take it out to get the rest of the carpet and insulation out. I might make mention that the carpet was dry, but underneath it the insulation, and subsequently the metal was pretty soaked yet. glad i took it out to save any further damage. Also, after I weld in the new rockers im going to spray in truck bed liner on the floor for easy maintenance.

Looking good. I have been thinking of doing this to my pig too.

BTW, I am running 255/85R 16 with a 4" lift on my v2500. It has 4.10 gears 454 & a 5speed. It is almost the perfect combo for me. $.02

Hey guys, thanks for the support! :D well i got a late start but when i went out again i "finished" wet sanding and then wiped it all down with mineral spirits. the reason i put quotations around the finished is that i later found out that i made a mistake in all of this. instead of sanding it all down smooth and exposing metal and old paint like i did, your only supposed to sand it down to where the orange peel is about 50 percent. and i also started with 320 grit sandpaper, apparently you want to start with 400. i think its salvageable, but i may have created way more work for myself. so just a heads up for you guys if you ever want to attempt this process. anyway, heres the 3rd coat progress for you guys!

well i just checked out the paint. it looks bad if im honest. sanding it down as much as i did was a big no no. its now pretty uneven and stuff, but i hope the fourth layer of paint will help rectify it.

Don't give up yet, there's a learning curve anytime you do something new. I've heard a lot about the Rustoleum both good and bad, so I am very interested to see how you think it works once all is said and done.
