After a day of not much going right yesterday, I was able to get some paint on it in anticipation of the RTT showing up in 24 hours. It's just too bad the trailer won;t be completely done in time to mount it.

Part of things not going right where based off the zero experience of building one of these before, but I wanted to point it out so others don't make the same mistake. When the axle was purchased, I simply moved the new spring perches to the desired located and matched the degree of what was on it. After having issues finding long enough u-bolts and having the employee at Big Rig Truck Accessories mention something about the crown of the axle, it became obvious that I never took into account that the springs and axle were set up for spring under, One peek down the tube confirmed that, soooooooo a little grinding on the old perches after pulling the axle back out, I simply located them opposite of what I had welded on before, welded those on, and painted them up since it was convenient. Problem solved! Not really, when the axle was put back under it and bolted up, I found out the perches on the bottom are too wide for the u-bolts to be lined up right since the weld is in the way.

Because it was late and I wanted to get inside, they were snugged up and left for when I have more time to pull it back out and grind the lower ones off then. I can hardly wait! The other problem I had was the paintable rubberized undercoating that I decided to use on the inner fenders apparently was too old, so water was bubbling and separating out of it and dripping all over the floor. That's something new to me. Figuring I would see how it dried today, 4 more cans were bought to use so it could be built up more then. After putting another coat on, it's too bad the weather went to crap and basically made it so the stuff wouldn't dry. We'll see how that turns out by tomorrow, but I won't be too happy if that has to be stripped off and redone. any way, some pics of progress....
All of the top, back, and most of the passenger side done...
It's pretty nice not having to use a jack to take the tires off. :ylsmoke: The inner frame was sprayed with the undercoating too but will be top coated with the hammered paint if it ever dries. I used some seam sealer that was bought for the FC, but since that has been put on hold, it got used before the shelf life expired...
Hopefully that will be dry enough to paint tomorrow too.
I'll be the first guy to say I love stickers.
Here is a better look at it with the wheels and tires on...
Tomorrow the tent arrives, but the goal is to finish as much paint as possible. Once that is done, then the box can be mounted, and the floor that was dropped off tonight can be fitted, then traced where the propane bottle is recessed. Having the floor of the floor propane holder not done, it will be the easiest way by far to get the opening dead on. Once marked I will finish fabbing that up and finish up the paint too, that is after I pick up another 5-6 cans to go along with the 7 already used.
