I love going to Clear Creek also. But I have never stopped in that town. It's how horror movies start.

Clear Creek will remain open but the BLM is considering charging a day fee and they now have a ranger station at the entrance from Los gatos Rd.

I do not mind paying a fee if it keeps it open to us. I will just go in the back way anyhoo...:ylsmoke:

I wouldn't count on it staying open! Many trails have been closed off in the last couple years, so that there is about 30% of the trail mileage there used to be. I'm expecting that to get very close to zero, since the CBD seems to have unlimited funds. Get there while you can!

it's really up to the dirt bike community to police themselves. Signs are posted and fences are put in but a few are allways going off trail. I haven't seen any trails that are wide enough for trucks to pass that have been closed. i haven't been there since last winter.

I hope it does stay open. I have a better time there than at Hollister Hills.

I agree that people need to follow the rules. A big problem is that up until 1 year ago, it was legal to ride on all existing trails. Now it is only legal to ride on trails that are marked legal. It will take quite a bit of time for people to change where they ride, especially those that have been riding there for 30 years. And just to add more difficulty, all last year, many trails that were shown legal on the map, were not marked at the trail head, so people got used to riding unmarked trails.

I just heard that they started ticketing people riding out of bounds (used to just be a warning), so things will get better soon. What will likely close the place is a few people disobeying the rules. Then if the CBD or the Native Plant Society documents it, they can "prove" that the BLM cannot enforce their own laws, and the place will get shut down for lack of funds for law enforcement.
