New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

I'd say the value of brutes has to drop when the gladiator hits. Sure it has the big hemi, but I bet more would want the ecodiesel anyways.
Yep, I think that will be the case. To me Brute values dropping only seems logical.

Most likely. But wait after the intial hype goes down. "Last years" Ruby's are going for the mid 30's. Model year change helps.

'18 JKUR's still 'Start' on the low 40's here.... Boo..

Most likely.

Me I would buy the S model...and do my own mods. In reality...as much as 37's would be fricken ahhhsum. 33-35's work fine for what I'll do. Run 32's on the Taco, it takes me everywhere I want to go in a truck. Save the real hard stuff for the dirt bike.

Yeah get the lowest priced model you can. Add Dynapro Dana 60's with ARB lockers and 37's and it will probably still be cheaper than the optioned out stock Rubicon, but it will be extremely durable......3.0 diesel...GFC camper/topper on the bed, dang I'm getting excited here!

They should call this the Snuffaluffagus Edition.

For some clarity, Jeep Corp. let their 'Scrambler' logo off copyright some years ago and a quad company picked it up. It won't be coming back. In the meantime, this was my built-to-the-max Scrambler (1986-2015):

Among other things it had 5 different tops: the factory half cab hard top; an aftermarket full hardtop; a bikini top; a half cab custom soft top; a full soft top made by Kayline in nutmeg. It was a great rig, but my time with it was over.

My understanding is that it will be built on a ram truck frame not a stretched jl pricing rumores are that it is expected to be expensive K
( DONT know what thatmeans) because it is " a lifesyle vehicle " which is a bummer i could see it in alot of areas fish and game life gards blm border patrol etc not to mention ise by regular guys who dont want a huge pu like an f 150 silverado ram titan etc think of the after market support
i own a fully equipped jlur before that i had a jkur loved every minute of both think how much fun a soft top pickup would be there is nothing else like it
how nany of you just get a big ole grin when you see a full size old blazer or bronco with the top down ? With solid axels no lift 35s top down rtt on back or hell even a small camper

yep in my view sergio has made a huge mistake if he prices it too high because i predict it will sell like hotcakes

It seems like when it comes to 4x4 vehicles (with the exception of full size trucks), manufacturers are happy to sell fewer units at higher margins, than more units, at lower margins.

well a 88 Toyota pu had a msrp of 7500 so today that would be about 15k ...... sooo I'm finding hard to follow your reasoning on pricing ??
Of course new rigs are going to cost a lot more , there is a lot more in a new vehicle to jack up the prices . In 88 you diddnt have to have airbags to cover every square inch of the cab , traction control , abs, super stringent EPA regulations, tons of other safety features , power everything and a touch screen tablet in the dash .
People used to want a good value of vehicle that was going to last them well beyond the warranty, now for the most part everybody's concern is that it rides velvety smooth gets incredible fuel economy and has every creature comfort you can think of that's why they end up buying a new one in a couple of years to get the newest fanciest doodads..

Again... the rig is not even available yet just because they release some teaser picture doesn't mean that's actually what's going to come out to Market how many times have we all been super disappointed when we see an amazing prototype that they're going to make and we end up getting some crossover SUV piece of crap instead.

Well the wait is almost over. The debut of this truck will be on the 28th.
My personal opinion after reading just about everything I can get my hands on is that this will be the most capable overlanding pick up truck that you can get in the US. I would compare it to a 79 Series Land Cruiser.

No other mid size truck has a solid front axle, front and rear lockers, a nice payload and (eventually) a diesel. I would not be surprised if this truck starts out around 40k and the Rubicon version (yes there will be a Rubicon version) will probably end up in the mid 50's.

That seems a bit low for 1988. I bought a fully loaded er well as much as a Jeep can be. 1977cj7 Golden eagle. Came with Levi style seats. For. $11,500
I think that would have been “appropriately equivalent” to. A four door rubicon today. That was about 50k. So if the rule of thumb is and I admit am guessing. Doubling about every 7 years then 42 years ago that would be 6 times doubling. Rule of thumb is WRONG. Doesn’t seem that far off. Also think of what a 78 Toyota 4x4. Pick up cost. At that time compared a Tacoma today

The pic of the red-colored Rubicon Gladiator from Chris Corde's Expo article looks really good with the 33's. It'll be awesome if 35's fit without any lift as rumored.

Cheers
