New kid on the block! AWD Transit with composite camper AEONrv

I just spent nearly an hour of my life trying to remember the name of this company, and once again: I should have just come here. 😅

@skirunman Any plans to bring this thing to Overland Expo PNW next year? I'd love to see one in person.

We own Aeon #003 and have about 20k miles/150+ nights in it. Happy to answer any questions with our real world experience from 2+ years of ownership.
Did you go with 6, 8 or 10 battleborn batteries? Are you happy with the storage capacity you chose?

I saw one at a trailhead while mountain biking outside Tucson over thanksgiving and thought it looked interesting but never saw the inside.

I put down a deposit and flew down to Reno a couple weeks later just to check out their facilities and get a tour. I was extremely impressed with everything.

It’s an incredible rig that has steered me away from Truckhouse and Rossmonster that I really liked (but no bike garage) and was about to pull the trigger on.

Congrats! You'll love it... and the dedicated gear garage is amazing. We had a Revel (Sprinter) before and realize how much better a dedicated garage could be.

We originally went with 8 batteries but had it upgraded to 10 on a trip back to the factory.

With 8 batteries summer trips were great as the mini-split AC and highly insulated box is an efficient combo.

For winter ski trips with almost no solar gain (cloudy skies or low sun angle) we appreciate having the extra 2 batteries. On any given ski trip we average a net loss of 15-20% of the 10 battery setup per day living in the Aeon. I'm sure we could be more efficient but we've never felt the need since we don't stay in one spot more than a couple days.

Thanks for the reply. I also had a Revel and currently a Storyteller.

They were/are fine rigs but I wanted something larger but not Earthroamer large. The last few years I’ve spent the majority of the year traveling in the van. I found it to be fine for me but cramped with the wife and dog.

I should have mine in early April.

Could you share your calculus of AeonRV vs pickup alcove bed types from Truckhouse and Rossmonster (I assume Baja)? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thx

No garage in either the Truckhouse or Rossmonster even with their massive size. I wanted to keep my MTB’s inside vs outside.

I’ve met with people involved in both those companies and really liked them. Both are run by very smart people who make incredibly high quality products but I wanted a garage this go around.

AEON also has a good team behind them, high quality as well and that sweet, sweet garage.

Thanks. I have not thought much about this issue. By MTB are you talking about a bicycle or motorcycle? Plz excuse my ignorance…

MTB is usually referring to mountain bike (bicycle) and some of them are expensive and somewhat large. Easy to spend $5,000 plus on a carbon MTB, so it's nice to keep them out of sight and out of mind.

Keeping the bikes inside is a game changer! Out of sight and less attractive for theft. We usually have our bikes on trailer hitch carrier and I'm always worried about another car "accidentally" bumping into it. Also they are always dirty with grime and all the components take a huge beating from that. Indoor storage is key. Aeon for the win!

Just as an alternative for people who might be interested in a truck... I keep my large 29+ bike, 6 big crates of stuff, plus tools and drinking water behind the front seat. Used to be a rear seat (not full size) until I removed it. It's all easy to access. Of course that won't work if you need to put people back there...

I like having bikes inside, too... although mounted on the back, well secured, and covered would be acceptable.

I will also say Rossmonster kindly offered to make me an external lockable bike storage "shell" deal for my bikes. I don't want to steer anyone away from them as they will go above and beyond to accommodate their customers.
