New Lock-n-Roll Hitch

So for my first post I figured I would help out the guys at Lock-n-Roll a little. I am sure all who have been in the market for a multiple axis hitch have run across the Lock-N-Roll website.

To thier credit, L-N-R has redesigned thier product to fix the potential issue when backing down or jack knifing with thier hitch system. I had the fine fellows over at L-N-R send me some new pictures of the redesigned hitch...this is what I present to you...enjoy!

Thanks for taking the time to post those pictures, but for me, I'll stick with my Multi-Axis-Coupler. :ylsmoke:

Yep, curious to know if the price had come down. If they weren't so expensive, I'd be interested in one or the other. But at the current price point, I really see no reason to switch out the ball hitch that has been working perfectly so far.

Tho' I must admit I was eyeballing the L~n~R's lower price...

Sierra Trailers sells MC for $ 225. + shipping... so I bought in to it.

L~n~R similar set up pn#'s 301/212 = $ 190. + shipping...

negligible price variance IMO....

but IMHO, the MC is the better design...

just sayin. :)

It appears that L&R reversed the rotational points from the Max coupler. It also looks it may be much heavier than the Max. A standard L&R 303 & 212 weighs 16 lbs. It looks like they have about another 6-10 lbs of tube & plate added to that perhaps bringing the coupler to around 20-24 lbs perhaps. Can you verify the weight? The Max Coupler weighs in complete at 12 lbs with the same 6000 lb rating.

It will be interesting to see how it does in long term testing.

I am not sure about the weight, but the thing is beefy for sure. I received one for a customer the other day. I thought I was getting the old design, which is what I ordered. Aparently they thought I needed a replacement for the one I bought last month. The new design is rated for 11,000 lbs, so it aught to be indestructable. A plus is that it is height adjustable. Oh and it shipped immediately vs weeks for the last one.

So, someone help me out with this one...

We had and L&R. It bent and rotated on some tight switchbacks. Why on earth would we trust the company and buy another product from them unless they stood by their product and offered an incentive to replace it?

We've ordered the Max Coupler!

I too destroyed my LnR. The Max Coupler replaced it even after I got a new LnR. Best money I spent....ever!

Can you describe what you did to do this? Was it the jackknife / straighten out maneuver that bends the L&R as described elsewhere (like in this thread: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28295&highlight=lock+roll)

I guess I'll add please describe the mode of failure and if you've got any pictures that would be helpful.

Thanks.

Edit: Never mind, I think I found it: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=407672&postcount=76

You can also take a look at my tweaked L&R here. I'm not sure exactly when we did the damage, but as the post indicates there were a few situations on this trip where we had to negotiate turns that required a backing maneuver during which we jackknifed the trailer. In a couple cases the trailer was backed uphill, and in at least one instance up onto some rocks. I suspect that's when we did the damage.

It's also worth noting that I pulled the trailer 55 more miles in the dirt, and then 500+ miles home before I took this pictures.
