I have a desktop computer I built myself for work that runs Windows 7 and Linux Mint. But after spending all day working on it, it's nice to be mobile (and out of my home office) once I clock out.
This is the first MacBook I've ever purchased after a brief experience with a Mac Mini a few years ago which ended up being sold due to unexpected expenses.
I'm used to 8GB of RAM and a faster processor on my desktop so this entry-level Air was a downgrade for me, but I only needed something to check emails, browse the web for entertainment, watch videos, and do all the other day-to-day stuff one does when not actually using a computer for work. I chose a MacBook because I love the aluminum body and the build quality and the operating system is better than the current disastrous Windows 8.1, which all newer laptops are coming preinstalled with. I didn't want to wipe the HD clean and install another Linux distro, I wanted something I wouldn't have to customize much or mess with, so this fit the bill.
It serves its purpose as my entertainment PC very well. I rent videos from the iTunes store, watch music videos, check Facebook and Twitter, browse websites, yada yada yada...you know the drill. It performs excellently and is fast enough for what I need it to do with my 50mbps Internet connection. Plus did I mention the operating system is such a relief to use after a brief, nightmarish period of using Windows 8 and 8.1?
Overall I am satisfied and happy with my purchase.
