Hi all, I'm from Oklahoma and here in a year me and my wife and kids are going to get an off road teardrop and spend 7 or so months on the road and go see as much as we can and finally end up in Alaska. But first we are working on my baby a 2013 Tacoma. I recently retired from the military due to a couple severe injuries was put out after 12 years service so I have plenty of time now for my for my truck and kids. But I digress, I've enjoyed many of the articles and forum post I've read and figured I should stop hanging out and jump in. I also figured there are plenty of people on here who are more knowledgeable than myself at this so I can learn a lot.

God Bless
William

Wife and kids in a teardrop for 7 months? :Wow1:

Uh, have you really thought this one though?

Welcome to the forums, tell us a little more about your plans. How many kids and how big of a teardrop? Wife and I have been Tearjerkers for a couple of years now, but one thing we've noticed is that most of the other people with teardrops are either singles, young couples with no kids, or empty nesters like us, for obvious reasons. A trailer that is cozy for two can get pretty cramped for 3 or more.

Well, there will be rooftop tents and the occasional stay at hotels and KOA fairly regularly as working over the phone and internet and my retirement will help finance this trip so we have to have a good internet connection from time to time, as much as I'd love to do it properly with two kids and having to work that is how it'll be. And I want my kids as well as myself to see as much of this country as we can and now while they are young enough to do it and still appreciate seems like the time.

Light bars are stock Toyota, I got this truck for the price of a standard 4x4 and figured hell it's the right color has some nice dual resivor bilstine shocks the wheels ain't bad and it's factory wired for a load of off road lights. Both light bars are coming off I'm gonna do a light weight brush guard up front and swap lights to all LEDs. A camper shell on the back with roof rack and make the fog-lamps QD so the whole bundle can come right off. Then ill throw on a snorkel which I'm having problems finding for 2013. Been to a couple places and nothing. So far I swapped from bfgoodrich 264-70-16 to coopers with much more aggressive tread in 265-75-16. I still have the BFGs with about 10k miles on em so anyone near by ill give a good deal. I removed front mudflaps and added a k and n filter. I also want to add the factory roof rack. Both light bars and all fog lamps will be up for sale. Thanks a lot guys ever since I first did the ALCAN highway when I was active duty I've wanted to make the trip again. Glad y'all like my truck it just screamed the yota from back to the future when I saw it 😀
