I had not planned on electric brakes no. I counted on the fact, as I understand, that its an easy retro fit later on. I thought I would use it for a bit and see if I felt the need for them.
I am, of course open to contrary opinions though.
Thanks for the question...it is one that has been circling around in my brain of late.

I went with the hot water on demand shower system in that black box. I think it will be a huge bonus since I will living out of this trailer in Nicaragua and El Salvador for the next year or so.

I've done a lot of towing, both hobby and business, I can say this. It is NEVER a bad idea to have brakes on a trailer, no matter how small you might think it is. Brakes failed on a single car car hauling trailer I have, that weighs about 1800 lbs, and when I hit the brakes on my Superduty that trailer shoved me right through a thankfully unoccupied intersection. Road wasn't more than damp, but that was all it took.

I am really liking the trailer and cool to see it is being made in Canada.

fwiw I just picked up some of these boxes and was impressed with them, especially for the price. The lids locks on just like an Action Packer and there is 3/4" or so overlap from the lid onto the top edge.

Out of stock online but my local store had a dozen or so on the shelf

Could you post a link to the builders website ? I googled their name and got an oilfield trailer site. It looks great!

I've been seriously looking at the Moby XTR's. Do you have a pricelist for the trailer you're building for the OP? If you could pm me your number I'd really like to speak with you. Thanks.

Thanks for the information and insite on brakes tgreening. I will ask about having them added. I will be picking the trailer up in the dead of winter and crossing over many mountain passes before I get to the nice weather of the south. Brakes might just be smart!

The photos just keep rolling in! I had a jetlagged skype chat with the lads at BlackRain and Off Grid trailers this morning (2:00 am Indonesia time) and I can't speak highly enough about their customer service. Really a class act...but what would you expect from a couple of good Canadian lads right? Details are starting to come together.

And a little teaser of the interior

Also, on the sage advice of Signor tgreening, I asked Off Grid to put electric brakes on the trailer. I don't think I will ever rock climb it (so am not so worried about ripping the wiring off) and I am happy to have the peace of mind the brakes will provide me, not to mention more control of the trailer on slippery descents.
