Most go for Backcountry Navigator (I use it regularly)...I think there's free and paid.
EarthNC, Orux, are two others I've messed with, but I keep coming back to BCN.

Torque (if you have a bluetooth OBD reader)
MyTracks (from google, good if you are gonna be in cell range the whole time, makes it easy to share your route with friends when you are done)
