I have lingered here time to time. Just had a little girl and my 95 YJ had to go, tough to get a car seat in, not at all loss Cause now i have permission to upgrade our 2006 Jeep grand cherokee Overland. The jeep has a 5.7L hemi, 3.73 all time four wheel drive. 15% more articulation than a WJ, but it has one of the most sophisticated 4WD systems on the market with a two speed transfer case and lockers all around. It can send all 375 ftlbs of torque to one wheel if that is the only one with grip. It has enough HP that you can load it to the roof with people and gear and it still has the muscle to move. I have recently ordered OME (Old Man Emu) Shocks and springs all around. I went with the HD (Heavy Duty) There website claims 2" but every other forum actual is closer to 3" inchs allowing me to go from 245 to 265, and also have to add 1.5" spacers if i want to keep stock rims. Its gonna probally take me a couple of years to get the jeep the way i want but this website has inspired me.

Welcome to ExPo!

My condolences to your loss of your YJ...hopefully it went to a good owner who'll treat it as well as you have. Nice Grand though! :sombrero:

06 Overland mmmmmm....

Yeah I said it...Sounds like a good plan on the OME kit. Spydertrax makes very good wheel spacers, I'm not sure if they do for your lug pattern though...but worth looking into.

Welcome-

Welcome and nice grand to be starting your build. It already has a nice bumper and tailight protectors

heres is one of the videos i saw that gives you an idea of what this jeep is capable of. He's running the OME lift with 285 7017R, with custom rear bump stops add 2" so they dont rub.

Welcome. My wife had a '05 WK with the off road package (traded in this spring) and I was able to fit 255/70R17 Hankook ATM's on it with no rubbing. You'd be surprised what you can fit on these. Not sure on the OME WK lift but on the JK's they provide more lift that advertised. Good luck with the build.

quick update lift came, but still waiting on upper control arms. I also have been doing some research on building drawers. they made this jeep pretty modular and i have removed the back plastic area that holds the jack and semi water proof storage. which exposed how they attached it to the body. now i have a couple of questions with pics.

This is what the back of my jeep looks like with out there oem storage solution 44" side to side and 37.5" seat to load line.

This is how it is mounted right behind the seat. the front of this bracket has a u shaped cut out in it. there are two of theses equally spaced and welded to the frame. will these two anchor point be enough to hold my drawer system in Im planning on building one drawer thats 36" long with 200lb drawer slide. the other 24" long 100lb drawer slide allowing a 12" cubby hole for mounting my on board air system. what are your thought on my idea? this is the first drawer system i will ever have built.

Well got my lift on my grand yesterday i havent had a chance to drive it yet was doing snow removal all day, but my father and brother says its smoother than it was stock. Old man Emu 2" shocks and springs right now before settled getting 3.5" I also got new upper control arms for the IFS from jeepin by AL. should settle around 3". heres a crappy Iphone pic my father sent last night when he picked it up from shop. I have named the build "Black Betty"

I think im gonna wait on tires for a while as not gonna run it offroad till i get some more body armor. Im gonna go with 4X guard. Need more in front to protect raditor and add some to rear also there rock guards gonna put on. I also still have about 30000 miles left on my foretta triple tread.

edit: forgot 3/8" spacer plates on front so it would look level from rocky road outfitters
